Micheal phelps was born on June 30,1985 in Baltimore,America.His father, Fred Phelps, an all-around athlete, was a state trooper; mother Deborah Phelps was a middle-school principal. When Phelps' parents divorced in 1994. He lost his parents love, Phelps want to live with his parents together.Due to this incident he was depressed, in order to overcome depression he started swimming.At that time his mother Deborah Phelps and his coach Bob Bowman Encouraged and motivated his swimming.
At age 7 he started swimming.when he reaches age 15, Phelps became the youngest American male swimmer to compete at an Olympic Games in 68 years. While he didn't win a medal at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney. after Olympics at the age of 15 years and 9 months he made world record swimming (200m butterfly).In 2001 he won his first medal at world championships in japan.He is creating record after record and he brake is own records .Phelps hold 39 records till date.
Phelps became a superstar at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece, winning eight medals (including six gold).After 2004 Olympics he made mindset to brake Mark Spitz world record in Olympics ( 7 gold medals in various categories of swimming).For Bejing Olympics he undergo hard training for 4yrs of 12hours/day.On one day during training accidentally his right wrist was broken.Doctors confirmed Phelps u can't use your hands for swimming.phelps was positive ,He was thinking for all possiblity.He found a solution and started a new method training that he uses only legs for swimming till 1year.After his recovery from injury his speed was unmatchable.In Bejing Olympics he started winning race one after another and won 7 gold medals. During his 200m butterfly race started in the middle of the race his goggles were cracked and he can't able to see ,on that time his practice came to help and finally won his 8th gold medal by creating a new world record.
In 2012 London Olympics he won 4 Gold medals & 2 silver medals.After the London Olympics in 2012, Phelps announced he was temporary retirement from swimming.In fall of 2014 Phelps was arrested for driving under the influence and speeding and crossing double lines.Phelps apologized for this incident.after his comeback In 2016 Rio Olympics Phelps won 1 silver and 5 gold medals.
Michael Phelps has accumulated a total of 28 medals at the Olympic Summer Games in Athens, Beijing, London and Rio — 23 gold, three silver and two bronze — setting the record for the most medal wins by any Olympic athlete.
Micheal Phelps started a Micheal Phelps foundation in 2008 with a mission statement "PROMOTE WATER SAFETY, HEALTHY LIVING AND THE PURSUIT OF DREAMS".
