Apple is not a well-known company for making drastic changes with every new model introduced. They believe in evolution that takes longer than evolution as most Chinese manufacturers do. So the front of the iPhone 11 Pro Max doesn't have any clear physical changes compared to the iPhone XS Max.
The screen is still 6.5 ″ OLED but now with the technology named Super Retina XDR. Resolution also remains 1242 x 2688 pixels with 458PPI. What distinguishes the Super Retina with the Super Retina XDR is the increased color display and screen brightness. As users of the XS Max we have been able to see the difference in the 11 Pro Max screen description from the first moment it was turned on. The white color of the retina setting screen made us grateful that iOS 13 finally supported the dark theme.
Interface
It just came out of the box using iOS 13 but last week an iOS 13.1.1 update was given to look into some of the vulnerabilities and bugs found. Updating to the latest version of this iOS is highly recommended because if you do not do so you will find some issues quite annoying. Among them are screens that do not detect scrolls in applications and applications are randomly closed. iOS 13.1.1 solves the majority of these problems, but we still experience problems with the YouTube app not working post-update.
Since starting the iPhone three years ago, the 11 Pro Max is the most problematic device we've ever used on our first day. The good news for those who want to buy it is that Apple is very quick to provide updates for pasting serious bugs.
With iOS 13, the device fully supports dark themes to save battery usage. New gestures for text editing have also been introduced along with the activation of the U1 chip that gives the device more precise directions. With this chip the name of the person in front of you (the front of the U1 chip in the device) will appear ahead of time when doing AirDrop for example.
The sound control interface gives it a fresh breath. No more large boxes blocking the content being viewed. It now mounts on the left side and shrinks after a few seconds. In large mode the finger can be used to scroll up or down to control the sound without the physical button being pressed.
A more powerful image and video editing system was also introduced. 11 Pro Max users do not need to download third-party applications for editing games and videos taken. It feels a little awkward because of the robust edits provided but the camera application still doesn't include manual controls. The PRO is only for editing capabilities but not for image applications.
iOS 13 has finally made it even more compatible with Android 10. We say this because bluetooth and WiFi settings are now more accessible through Action Center. Just place your finger on the bluetooth and WiFi icons inside the Action Center to get an additional menu like Android. WiFi network options and bluetooth devices can be done directly from this menu. Previously both were only possible from the settings screen.
However, there are still some shortcomings. Camera settings and background images for example still need to be done through the settings screen. This additional step puts it a few steps behind Android 10.
Has the best iOS 13 smartphone operating system ever been developed? As users of both the Android and iOS operating systems we can only say Android provides more but i phone is best ever.
Camera
Tri-cameras are used with each 12-Megapixel sensor. The systems used are wide-angle, ultra-wide-angle lenses and telephones. Telephone cameras still only support optical zoom up to 2X and digital up to 10X. This is far behind the P30 Pro which supports 5X and digital 50X digital zoom. Its ultra-wide angle lens has a 13mm viewing angle. This is wider than the P30 Pro (16mm) but behind the Note 10+ (12mm).
Our iOS 13 camera app is categorized as minimalist with little additional functionality included. The functions provided are Panorama, Portrait, Video, Slo-mo and Timelapse. If you want to take a 1: 1 box image or a 16: 9 ratio, it can now only be accessed through an additional hidden menu. These changes were made without any manual and left us wondering where they were hiding. Still no manual controls are provided. It can only be used on third-party applications that need to be purchased.
For a Pro device, we feel the most basic manual controls on camera applications should be included. At the same time Deep Fusion mode was released during the launch event. When the article was written it was only enabled on iOS 13.2 Beta users. Therefore, the true capabilities of the iPhone 11 Pro Max camera cannot be tested at this time.
Lastly we want to say the iPhone 11 Pro Max supports video recording at the highest setting of 4K 60FPS and slow motion 240FPS at 1080P resolution. The front camera is also capable of capturing video in 4K 60FPS settings as needed.
