Impact of lifestyle on health

Introduction:

                                        Lifestyle is a way used by people, groups, and Nations and is formed in special geographical, economic, cultural and religious text. Lifestyle is characteristics to the inhabitants of a region in a special place and time. It includes day to day behavior and functions of individuals in job, fun, activities, and diet.

In recent decades, lifestyle as an important factor in health is more interested in researchers. According to WHO, 60% of related factors of individual health and quality of life are correlated to lifestyle.

Millions of people follow an unhealthy lifestyle. Hence, they encounter illness, disability, and even death. Problems like metabolic diseases joints and skeletal problems, cardio-vascular diseases, overweight, hypertension , violence and so on can be caused by a healthy lifestyle. The relationship between lifestyle and health should be highly e considered.

Today, wide changes have occurred in the life of people. Malnutrition, a healthy diet, smoking, alcohol consumption, and drug abuse and so on, the presentations of an unhealthy lifestyle that they are used as a dominant form of lifestyle. Besides, the lives of citizens face new challenges. For instance, in merging new technologies within  IT such as internet and virtual communication networks, lead our world to a major challenge that threatens the physical and mental health of individuals. The challenge is the overuse and misuse of technology.

Therefore, according to tot existing studies it can be said that: lifestyle has and significant influence on the physical and mental health of human beings. There are different forms of such influences.

Consanguinity in some ethnicity is a dominant form of lifestyle that it leads to genetic disorders. Reformation of this unhealthy lifestyle is a preventing factor for decreasing the rate of genetic diseases. In some countries, the overuse of drugs is a major unhealthy lifestyle. Iran is one of the 20 countries using the most medication. They prefer medication to other interventions. Furthermore, in 15-40% of cases, Hindi uses the medication without a prescription. Pain relievers, eye drops, and antibiotics have the most usage in Iran.

Finally variables that have influence on health can be categorised in some items:

1. Diet and body mass index (BMI).

2. Exercise

3. Sleep

4. Substance abuse

5. Medication abuse

6. Sexual behavior

7. Application of modern technologies

8. Recreation

9. Study

Conclusion: 

                    With a  look at existing studies in the health domain, 9 factors can be suggested for a healthy lifestyle. In regard to each factor, systematic planning at the micro and macro level can be established. It can provide a social in an individual healthy lifestyle.
