Karan Johar is finally ready to kickstart work on the much-awaited sequel to his 2008 hit film, 'Dostana', that will feature Kartik Aaryan, Janhvi Kapoor and Lakshya in lead roles. Now, according to reports, KJo's former 'student' and protégé, Varun Dhawan was eyeing the role and even went ahead to ask the director to cast him and his fellow 'Student Of The Year' co-stars Alia Bhatt and Sidharth Malhotra.

Varun was recently was seen on a show for an online portal where the host asked him questions from his fans. One question thrown his way was ‘When can we see you, Alia Bhatt and Sidharth Malhotra again?’

To this, the actor replied, “This only Karan (Johar) can answer. But there is a film recently which I told Karan, he should take all three of us for… but he didn’t agree. Abhi jo ban rahi hai Dostana 2. I told him to take us three, in that one. It would have been interesting. But I don’t know, I think he was thinking I was kidding.” Now, wouldn't that have been an interesting casting? Varun later went on to add, “But the current cast is interesting.” Just last week, Kartik shared an interesting picture with Janhvi and Lakshya that saw them goofing around while commencing prep for the film.
