Under this, all former Chief Ministers of Jammu and Kashmir get a bungalow to stay alive, which does not even cost rent. These benefits will end on November 1, when the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Bill 2019 comes into effect.

Apart from these two, Farooq Abdullah has also been placed under house arrest in his private house. On 9 August, President Ram Nath Kovind approved the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Bill 2019. Under this bill, Jammu and Kashmir will be reorganized into two union territories, Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. In which there will be an assembly in Jammu and Kashmir and there will be no assembly in Ladakh.
According to the law applicable in Kashmir till 31 October, the former Chief Ministers get a house or a Hayat at government expense or government expenditure. Those houses will have to be vacated from November 1.
