Looking at the different apps available at the Play Store is a fantastic experience. So many other apps for uses like games, education, office work, social networking, and many more, may give you the impression that it is tough to make your app. Nothing could be further from the truth. There are several websites, which allow you to make your app in a short time.
An Android app can be developed using Web-based app development software. Some of the websites which offer their app-builders are:--Apps Bar at http://www.appsbar.com, Appy Pie at http://www.appypie.com, App Yet at http://www.appyet.com, Appmakr at http://www.appmakr.com, etc. Many of these websites also offer the use of their App Stores to promote your app. We would use app-builder and make our apps.
Now we are going to use Appy Pie to make a quiz app in it. Appy Pie is a Web-based app maker providing various facilities for quickly making our app. In addition to the basic pages and information for a simple app, Appy Pie allows you to add pages, forms, social media links, login pages, and much more. Ready-made templates for applications ranging from business, social, messengers, taxi services, restaurants, hotels, educational, and many more, make designing your app very easy. Here are some simple steps to be followed to make our first app, using Appy Pie Website:--
1. In the address bar of the browser, type http://www.appypie.com. Click on the CREATE YOUR FREE APP button.
2. Give an appropriate name for your app (Quiz) and select a category from the options given below. Example: Education. Click on the Next button.
3. You may choose to link your app to your Facebook page or click on SKIP.
4. Linking to your website is also possible. Type the URL in the box provided. Otherwise, click on SKIP.
5. Choose a suitable theme from the various enlisted options. Let's say, THEME 8. Click on the Next button.
6. You can preview your work at any time by clicking on the icon. Example: ANDROID.
7. Now add pages into your app as desired. Under the SUGGESTED tab, click on QUIZ to insert a quiz page. Unwanted Pages can be deleted here.
8. Click on the ADD QUESTION tab to add or edit questions. Confirm by selecting the PROCEED TO DASHBOARD tab.
9. You have to Login or Sign up if you have not done so far. The next step requires you to choose the plan for your app. Here we have selected the FREE PLAN option.
10. Under the ACTION section, click on the MANAGE QUIZ QUESTIONS icon.
11. Add questions and answers. If you wish, you can provide options for each question, with one of the options being the correct one. The correct option is indicated with a tick mark in the checkbox adjacent to the correct answer. Videos and images can also be added to individual questions.
12. Proceed to add more questions to your Quiz. Click on SAVE, once you have added all the questions.
13. Click on the QUIZ SETTINGS icon to control the way the Quiz operates. Under this tab, we can control whether the Quiz will generate random questions, the minimum passing score, time limit for the Quiz, and much more. Click on SAVE when you are done.
14. Now click on the drop-down arrow adjacent to your Welcome e-mail id, displayed on the extreme top right corner of the window. Select DASHBOARD > MY APPS > EDIT APP options.
15. Select the THEME CUSTOMIZATION tab. You can choose an icon for your app by selecting the APP ICON thumbnail. Choose any icon from the available list, or you may use the option, UPLOAD APP ICON, to upload your icon.
16. Click on the SPLASH SCREEN icon and choose any screen of your choice. Similarly, the background of the app can also be customized as per your choice by selecting an option from the APP BACKGROUND.
17. Click on the SAVE & FINISH tab when done.
18. You can now proceed to build your app. Click on the CONTINUE TO MY APPS tab.
19. Select the TEST APP icon under the MY APPS section.
20. Your app is now ready. Download your application by selecting the CLICK TO DOWNLOAD tab.
21. Now select any one option and proceed to download either the Android or the iOS version of your app. If you wish, you may publish your app at any store where you have the account.
