The treatment by the physician to the poisonous patient just as saving a house on fire, protecting the life reaching the throat, by all efforts mitigating the poison.
In snake poisoning cases emergency treatment is required as the poison remains for a period of 100 matras only at the site of the bite and then spreads throughout of the body vitiating the blood and other tissues. Within this period itself, in sizing the site of bite and other treatments should be done quickly so that the poison does not grow in the body.
Acarya Vagbhata still explain that the person who is is bitten by the snake should immediately by the same snake or a lump of stone or murder tearing it with his teeth violently.
1. General treatment.
The teeth which are not on vital spot should be pulled out by squeezing the area of bite, symptoms of toxicity of poison will not develop just as a sprout when the seed is destroyed. Removing the teeth which are on vital spots leads to death and on the joints to distortions of the body.
2. Specific treatment.
Special treatment should be adopted after carefully considering the nature of snake, the aggravation, place of snake bite, and the site of the bite on the body, stage of poisoning.
A. Treatment of the bite of the hooded snake.
The root of sindhuvara macerated in its own juice added with honey and consumed is the recipe for the poison of hooded snakes. Route of Sinduvaraka and sveta girikarnika made in the paste and consumed, pakala and honey made use of as nasal drops for the person beaten by hooded snake.
If bitten by Black Snake the blood should be removed from the site it and paste of carati and nakuli of powerful root poison should be applied.
Ghee added with honey, manjistha, and grhadhuma should be drunk.
Agada prepared with tanduliyaka, kasmarya, kinihi, girikarnika, matulunga, sita, and selu used for drinking national medication and collyrium is beneficial in powerful poison of hooded snakes and also snake with stripes.
B. Treatment of bite of snakes with patches.
C. Treatment of white of snakes with stripes.
Katuka, ativisa, kustha, grhadhuma, harenuka, vyosa, and tagara, made in to paste and consumed mixed with honey destroys the poison of snakes with stripes.
In case of a bite by kandacitra snake the beaten path should be buried in the ground for 6 hours then pulled up the site incised and covered with the mud adhering to the root of corn plant the patient made to drink ghee boiled with powder of Vara. After this gets digested and he had purgations, he should partake cooked barely along with the processed soup.
D. Treatment of bite of crossbreed snakes.
Karavira, arkakusuma, root of langalika, kana, patha, and marica army din to paste with sour gruel and used.
E.Treatment of poison in each tissues.
Blood and flesh of godha made into powder after dying this powder was mixed with the juice of kapittha and consumed is beneficial when poison is present in rasadhatu.
