What is the Deadline for Accepting WhatsApp New Privacy Policy?

Facebook is the owner of this business. Many events in the last few months have been attributed to WhatsApp's latest privacy policy. People, in general, are becoming more aware of how data protection works, thanks to the rise of alternative instant messaging apps like Signal and Telegram.

WhatsApp has now canceled its May 15 deadline for users to approve its contentious privacy policy update, claiming that refusing to accept the terms would not result in account deletion.

WhatsApp's privacy policies are as follows:

The privacy policy of WhatsApp is a collection of terms that allows the messaging platform to keep track of and exchange user data with its parent company, Facebook.

The regulation, however, only applies to WhatsApp Business accounts, not daily WhatsApp accounts. Phone numbers and transactional data would be among the data that WhatsApp will have access to. For a more comprehensive description, see the link click here.

NOTES --

Remember that your private messages are still end-to-end encrypted and therefore protected, and will remain so even after WhatsApp's new policy takes effect.

"WhatsApp only share your account registration details (such as your phone number) and transaction data with the other Facebook Companies" (for example, if you use Facebook Pay or Shops in WhatsApp).

The deadline to accept the policy is 15 may so be careful. If you don't approve it by May 15th, you won't be able to use WhatsApp.

WhatsApp revealed its privacy policy in January 2021, and with all of the delays, the final deadline to agree is May 15th.

Users are bombarded with pop-ups urging them to adopt their current privacy policy, which is unchanged from the one that was implemented in January. There are two scenarios. If you agree to it, you will be able to use WhatsApp without any issues.

If you don't agree by the 15th of May, you'll receive updates and calls for a limited time, but you won't be able to use WhatsApp after that. If you haven't used WhatsApp for 120 days, it will be deactivated. There's no clarity on the grace period. You will be able to accept messages, but it is unclear if you will be able to send them.

WhatsApp May 15 Deadline for Accepting New Privacy Policy

A PIL has been filed in the High Court, and if they rule that WhatsApp may not operate in India, WhatsApp will be forced to bring its servers to India. Even if the High Court orders it, I don't believe WhatsApp will change its privacy policies. WhatsApp would adhere to the current privacy policy regardless of the circumstances.

I would advise you to use Signal or Telegram instead of WhatsApp, but if your life depends on it, you have no choice but to accept it. What I believe is that the Indian government should intervene in this matter.  Let us know in the comments below. Keep follow me and Stay Safe.
