How to mute the status of your contacts on WhatsApp

WhatsApp states arrived three years ago in Spain, although this feature has not become the great success that the application expected in its day. Some users see how their friends and family don't use this feature, while in other cases, it's likely that your friends and family will continually state the messaging app.

Luckily, the ability to mute contact states had been introduced for some time. This will allow you to stop seeing in WhatsApp the states that those people upload, as they are also hidden in this tab in the app. That way, you won't have to see those states you're not interested in seeing.

Mute states on WhatsApp

For many users in the app, these states are unnecessary, which doesn't really bring anything. That's why they have no interest in seeing their contacts' statuses, let alone those contacts that go up states continuously. Like on social media, we can mute these states so you won't see them anymore. The steps to do this are simple:

  1. Open WhatsApp.
  2. Go to the States tab.
  3. Find the status of that person you want to mute.
  4. Enter that state.
  5. Tap the three dots icon in the top right.
  6. Tap Mute.
  7. Confirm your action by clicking mute again.

These steps mute the statuses of one of your contacts on WhatsApp. If there are more people you want to do this with, you're just going to have to repeat the same process with all of them so that all their states will be muted in the app.

The problem with this system is that a person has to upload stay or in the app to mute it. There's no way to do this if that person hasn't uploaded a status to their account. Although the idea, in this case, is usually to silence those people who climb states continuously, they are the ones who are annoying.

Has WhatsApp fallen?

WhatsApp Web is really an app client on your phone, so it depends entirely on this app. This assumes that we will not have access to the desktop version on the computer if the application has been dropped. In this situation, it is best to check whether WhatsApp has fallen or not, as it could explain this problem. It's not uncommon for the app to fall off, so it's always a possibility.

We can use Downdetector to see if WhatsApp has fallen because this page shows the incidents that the application has suffered in the last 24 hours and a map showing the areas where such a failure occurs. That way, you can see if it's also something that affects your country or region. It is useful information, which will allow us to confirm or discard this possible origin.

Sign out of WhatsApp Web

The problem may be found in the link between WhatsApp Web and the android app. The best thing we can do is to log out of the active session at that time on the computer and then start a new one. A kind of reboot, which in many cases will allow us to use the web client without any problem again. To log out, the steps to follow are:

  1. From WhatsApp Web: Tap the top three dots icon and select the Sign Out option.
  2. From WhatsApp:
  3. Open the app on Android.
  4. Tap the top three vertical points.
  5. Go to WhatsApp Web.
  6. Log out.

Once you've currently logged out, you'll need to start a new one. It's the same process we have to follow when we use this web client for the first time. The steps are as follows:

  • Enter the web on your computer.
  • Open WhatsApp on your phone.
  • Tap on the top three points.
  • Go to WhatsApp Web.
  • Point your phone at the QR code on your computer screen.
  • Wait for the code to be recognized.
  • You can now use the desktop version.
