WHAT HAPPENS TO HUMAN BODY AFTER DEATH?

The human body grows in many phases, namely baby, toddler, child, teenage, adult, and elder. The human body functions differently as per the age to fulfill its requirement. BUT WHAT HAPPENS WHEN WE DIE?? Here is a timelapse article on what happens to a human body after death.

The heart stops breathing due to which the blood circulation in the body stops.

Without an oxygen supply, the body goes into an "energy-saving" mode. The cells stop their activity. In particular, there is no longer any interneuronal communication. Electrical activity in the brain disappears. The patient loses consciousness. Then, in a final burst, the neurons come out of their inhibited state and release all of their stored energy, which manifests as a spike in electrical activity.

4-5 minutes

Deprived of oxygen, cells throughout the body break down. They accumulate CO2 whose acidity pierces pockets of enzymes located in their cytoplasm. Once released, the enzymes digest the cells from the inside out. By breaking down, neurons in the central nervous system cause irreparable damage to the brain.

As a result of the death of the cells, the organs fail one by one, starting with the liver, which is rich in enzymes. The pancreas and the kidneys follow.

The body temperature drops by 1 ° C per hour on average during the first 24 hours, until it reaches room temperature.

Calcium, necessary for the contraction of muscle fibers, accumulates in muscle cells because it is no longer evacuated. All muscles tighten, first in the neck, eyelids, and jaw, then this stiffness gradually spreads, usually over 12 hours, throughout the body.

According to a study published in Nature Communication last February, in cells that are still living, certain genes experience a peak in the production of proteins for the transportation of oxygen, and this up to fourteen hours after death.

The blood descends in the body by gravity and stains the skin of the lower parts (blue, purple). Dehydrated skin shrinks, giving the impression that the nails are still growing. In humans, sperm are alive and may remain so for up to 36 hours after death.

36 hours

Bacteria living in our body, and particularly in our gut, are no longer regulated by the immune system. They start attacking the digestive system and then reach the liver, spleen, heart, and finally the brain. It takes them about fifty-eight hours to spread to all the organs. These bacteria produce gases that swell the abdomen, loosen the skin, and puff up the face. They also give a green tint to the corpse which loses its rigidity and becomes flabby.

A study published in Nature Communication shows that muscle stem cells that have reduced their metabolism to a minimum are still alive.

Worms can digest up to 60% of a body unprotected from flies within the first week. The skeleton then starts appearing. In a coffin, it can take up to ten years to decompose.

Bones are reduced to dust if left exposed on the surface. When buried, they are preserved for several million years.
