SOME ROCKS ON THEIR OWN IN THIS VALLEY :

Scattered across the bottom of this dry lakebed, hundreds of rocks leave trails on the ground when they move. Some of the rocks which weight up to 700 pounds have traveled over 1500 feet. For most of the years, the source of their movement has gone unsolved, but in 2014, researchers discovered a unique combination of events that moves rocks.

When the playa floods and cool winter nights freeze water into a thin layer of ice that breaks into large floating panels. As night turns into a day, winds move the rocks forward across the slimy surface, that leaves the trails in the soft mud below. Although scientist has discovered the secret of the moving rocks.

IF YOU LISTEN SILENTLY, THE SAND WILL SINGS TO YOU :

The sand dunes are only a small portion of Death Valley; the shadowed ripples are stark, graceful curves are the most memorable sights in the park. While mesquite flat sand dunes are the easiest to visit and the only location where sandboarding is allowed , Eureka Sand Dunes are rising over 680 feet. At the top of the sand dunes, you can experience the strangest phenomena of the desert i.e., singing sand.

When the sand slides down the steep faces of high, sand dunes, a sound like the bass notes of the pipe organ and the distant drone of an Airplane can be easily heard. The reason for this occurrence is unknown at that time, but it is mostly caused by the friction between the sand particles. There are few other places on the Earth, where the beautiful songs of the nature call to the visitors.
