How your lifestyle impacts your health

Lifestyle is a way used by people, groups, and nations and is formed in specific geographical, economical, political, cultural, and religious text. Lifestyle is referred to the characteristics of inhabitants of a region in a special time and place. It includes day to day behaviours and functions of individuals in job, activities, and diet.

According to WHO, 60% of related factors to individual health and quality of life are correlated to lifestyle. Millions of people follow an unhealthy lifestyle. Hence, they encounter illness, disability, and even death. Problems like metabolic diseases, joint and skeletal problems, cardiovascular diseases, hypertension, overweight, violence, and so on, can be caused by an unhealthy lifestyle. The relationship between lifestyle and health should be highly considered.

Therefore, according to the existing studies, it can be said that: lifestyle has a significant influence on the physical and mental health of human beings. There are different forms of such influences.

So, Activities of your lifestyle that have a major influence on health can be categorized into some items:

Exercise:

exercise

All it takes is about 20 to 30 minutes of regular exercise daily to keep us fit and healthy. Exercise strengthens your heart and improves your circulation. The increased blood flow raises the oxygen levels in your body. this helps lower your risk of heart diseases such as high cholesterol, coronary artery disease, and heart attack. Regular exercise can also lower your blood pressure and triglyceride levels.

A healthy balanced diet:

diet

Your diet plan will set your energy for work and moods. When you eat healthily and make sure your body is getting the right nutrition, you are providing it with sustaining energy. You are also lowering your risk of getting serious lifestyle diseases, like heart disease, hypertension (high blood pressure), diabetes, etc.

while you don't want to gain too much unhealthy weight, you also shouldn't follow fad diets. Three balanced meals a day with healthy mid-morning and mid-afternoon snack will ensure your body with good nutrition.

Drinking lots of water

Did you know we can survive for around 3 weeks without food yet we cannot go without water for more than 7 days? What this is telling us is that water is vital. We should be drinking 8 glasses of pure water a day to keep hydrated and maintain good health. Water aids healthy digestion, it keeps our cells hydrated and functioning properly, and it flushed toxins out of our bodies. It is thanks to the water that our bodies can absorb vital nutrients from food.

NOTE- Juices, Cold drinks, and other beverages do not count as water.

No Smoking

Smoking causes cancer, heart disease, stroke, lung disease, diabetes, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), which includes emphysema and chronic bronchitis. Smoking also increases the risk for tuberculosis, certain eye diseases, and problems of the immune system, including rheumatoid arthritis.

Can you smoke and be healthy?

when it comes to cancer prevention, the damaging effects of smoking can't be reversed by exercise or a healthy diet. There is no such thing as a healthy smoker- especially when it comes to cancer prevention.

Limited alcohol consumption

If you are consuming a moderate amount of alcohol- about one drink a day- you have nothing to worry about. However, drinking more than this can lead to health issues, such as a higher risk of heart disease, some cancers (liver cancer in particular), high blood pressure, and stroke. Alcohol can be addictive and if you have a drinking problem you are at a higher risk of having accidents and being violent.

Plenty of sleep

A full night's sleep is vital as it gives your body some time to regenerate and recharge. you should be getting no less than 7 hours of sleep per night because your body needs this amount of time to take care of its metabolic functions, like repairing damaged cells, recharging tired old cells, and getting rid of toxins. Consistent lack of sleep can have quite a serious effect on your physical and mental health and wellbeing.
