Education
is a process of learning. Every country has a set up for school; it can be public or private. The purpose of education is to prepare youth for serving the country. If a country wants to have developed in their area, they have to train their child to cope with it. The world has progressed in every field, and the world has become a global village. To have better communication among the people of the world, many things are standardized. Scientists have standardized measuring instruments and units to have a regulated measurement world full.
In the same way, we can standardize a system of education by using English as a standardized language. English has a standard of International Language already. This will help the students to communicate their feelings, achievements, experiences, and problems worldwide.
Every country can use English as a medium of instruction in their education system. Many experts say a student, especially in early life, can only understand his or her mother tongue. If I talk about Pakistan, many languages are being spoken in Pakistan. These languages are quite different from each other in vocabulary and pronunciation, and if we talk about our national language, it is Urdu. What should be the medium of instruction here? If we use the mother tongue as a medium of instruction, people around the cities will not be able to communicate their views to each other. Yes, they understand each other using the Urdu language. There is a need to have a single word for communication. Learning Urdu is a particular task for people using native languages. If a student learns Urdu to get an education, he or she can learn English for their knowledge. This learning will also facilitate them for higher education.
How is it possible that people around the globe start speaking English? It will not be a difficult task if we begin this learning process at a very early age. We can use all written material in English and use the native language to understanding the concept. Europe has introduced a single currency Euro for having a business in Europian Countries, and International Business is conducted in dollars. The English language can be a standardized language for education. We are having two styles of English one is American, and the other is British. It must be decided which method will be an international style for education so uniformity could be maintained.
Many people in Pakistan and other countries think that by using the English Language, we will lose our identity and our language. This issue is essential, but it can be solved quickly. We can use a course of national language not only in early classes but in higher education. A course in Urdu may be introduced with every course in higher education, whether it is a course of sciences or social sciences. This course may contain great efforts done by present and past language experts. We can enjoy our lives in our native languages. There is no need to adopt the English language in your daily lives. Your values may not be changed. English may be used only for communication, and the content should be according to our values.
If people wish that their language may be studied, they need to have exceptional content in their language that forced the reader to get experts in their language. A great example we have of Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal. His writings have a great massage, and people around the globe love to study him. The most excellent book of the world, the Holy Quran, is translated in many languages because lessons given in this book are useful for humanity around the globe.
It is endorsed that medium of instruction around the globe may be standardized, and at present, English is a language that is mostly used in the world.
