DO YOU KNOW ABOUT THESE RESPIRATORY DISEASES?

Respiration is an essential process in every living organism. It is required for the breakdown of food to liberate the energy that is used for everyday activity.

Due to many reasons like pollution, allergens, pathogens, the process of respiration gets disturbed. Here are some diseases that damage respiratory surfaces.

  EMPHYSEMA

Emphysema is one of the common disease caused mainly by cigarette smoking. The carcinogenic substances in cigarettes get deposited in the respiratory exchange area that is alveoli. This results in decreasing the amount of oxygen in the blood.

There is no drug or medicine available that cures emphysema because emphysema damages tissues if lungs and no therapy can make those tissues again.

To prevent this deadly disease, the only solution is to stay away from cigarettes.

 SILICOSIS

Silicosis is a disease in which lungs get more challenging because of the deposition of fibers in it. This disease is seen in workers working in the glass industry for a long time. The small glass particles that cannot be seen by naked eyes enter the respiratory passage and get stuck in the lungs.

The lungs hence become more formidable, and the body does not get a sufficient amount of oxygen. There is no medicine or drug available for its cure.

To prevent this disease, one should wear a mask to stop small particles from entering our lungs because prevention is better than cure.

CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING

Carbon monoxide is a poisonous gas. It has 200 times more affinity for hemoglobin than that of oxygen. The carboxyhemoglobin formed due to the bond between carbon monoxide and hemoglobin is very stable that it does not break and damages the hemoglobin.

Damage of hemoglobin causes anemia, which can be fatal if not treated in time. Carbon monoxide is liberated by the incomplete burning of fuel like charcoal, petrol, and diesel. The burning charcoal in a closed room or vehicle smoke in a secure garage is the main reason for this disease.

The patient that suffers from this disease must be given oxygen to decrease poison in the blood, but the patient must visit the hospital in time.

PNEUMONIA

It is a bacterial disorder that causes the deposition of fluid in the lungs. Therefore the lungs become heavy. This disease is airborne, which means the transmission takes place by droplets exhaled by an infected person.

This disease is curable if diagnosed and treated in time. In severe cases, the lips and nails become darker; this stage is fatal. The people with less immune power get this disease very quickly; this includes older adults, operated patients.

To prevent this disease, one should avoid close contact with patients affected by pneumonia.

 ASTHMA

Asthma is nothing but an allergy. When an allergen enters the respiratory tract, our body gets hyperactive and releases chemicals like histamine and serotonin. These chemicals are released in the trachea and bronchioles. This causes inflammation of these pipes from inside; this results in short breathing, mainly short expiration.

Due to the modern life that we live, we do not expose ourselves to nature, which causes allergies.asthamatic attacks can be recognized by running nose, whistling sound during expiration, difficulty breathing, etc.

This cannot have permanent treatment, but temporary treatments like antihistamine pumps are beneficial for these patients.

These are some of the respiratory disorders that are commonly seen in our society. This information will help you in your life.
