A Bloody War:1971

The partition of India of 1947 was the division of British India into two independent dominion states, the Union of India and The Dominion of Pakistan, by an act of the parliament of the UK.

From the birth of Pakistan, the eastern part of the country continued to be deprived of the western region. The history of the exploitation and deprivation of East Pakistan by West Pakistan of 25 years till the birth of independent Bangladesh.

The general election of 1970 is considered one of the fairest and cleanest elections in the history of Pakistan, with about 24 political parties taking part. The Awami League ran 170 candidates, of which 162 were for constituencies in East Pakistan. But without transferring power, West Pakistanis created a barrier to form a government. President Yahya Khan declared The Awami League ban and issued martial law.

A planned military pacification carried out by the Pakistani Army-codenamed 'Operation Searchlight' started on March 25, 1971, to curb the Bengali independence movement by taking control of the major cities on March 26 and then all opposition, political and military. After the declaration of independence by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on March 26, he was arrested and taken away in secret in West Pakistan, and the war of Liberation began.

On March 28, The Observer reported from London, "At least 10,000 people were killed on the first day of a military operation in East Pakistan." Before the beginning of the operation, all foreign journalists were systematically deported from East Pakistan. The army is firing indiscriminately, and building quotas are being destroyed. Children and women have been burnt alive in remote areas like Comilla, Jessore. About 700 men and women were killed in different areas of Dacca between midday and midnight."

To save lives from the horrific genocide, 1,00,00,000 refugees have been taken refuge in India. India provides shelter and training to guerrillas who support the liberation war.

Anthony Mascarenhas, a reporter for The Sunday Times, said, "While walking around Dacca on April 15, I saw four students lying on the roof of Iqbal Hall. Those walls are flickering. Despite the large amount of DDT powder being dispersed, the stairs still had a bad odor. Neighbors said the bodies of 23 women and children had been removed an hour earlier. After a lot of questioning, I was able to find out that all of the victims were residents of a nearby Hindu settlement."

According to April 19, 1971, Time Magazine report, "Nearby 2,00,000 have been killed in the hands of West Pakistani soldiers."

On the other hand, India told the World about this horrific massacre.

According to The Spectator June 19, "It's much easier to imagine a german gas chamber than a Pakistani massacre in Bangladesh. The outcome of the 60,00,000 Jews was in the gas chamber. Hindus East Pakistan is facing the same terror and finality as jews."

Then the Mukti Bahini(Bengali freedom fighter) launched a sharp attack on the border areas. Pakistani forces became disarmed by the isolated attacks of guerrillas across the country. The Bengali fighters destroyed the original transfer of the power plant in Dhaka, destroyed the road and blocked the army.

The Nixon administration of America has provided enormous support for the refugees But had not stopped arms assistance to Pakistan. Russia strongly condemned the massacre and called for the restraint of Pakistan. India fears, Social and political tensions may arise from the refugee problem. On December 6, India recognized Bangladesh and Pakistan invaded India. The neighbor two countries joined in the war. Pakistani forces were forced to surrender On December 16 in a joint attack by the Bengali freedom fighter and the India Allies. As a result, Bangladesh is an independent state established in the World.

Bangladesh gained its independence after a long bloody war. According to the Newspaper states, "If the freedom fighter is to be paid by the blood of the people, then the Bengalis have paid a lot more." Regarding the destruction of the Pakistani army over the Bengalis by returning to Bangladesh, Sheikh Mujib said, "If Hitler was alive today, He too would be ashamed."

During the nine-month-long Bangladesh war for Liberation, members of the Pakistani army killed nearby 30,00,000 killed and raped between 2,00,000 and 4,00,000 Bangladeshi women.
