Why the price of green chillies suddenly dropped in Bangladesh?

It is one of the vegetable markets in the eastern part of the Comilla Nimsar Raw Market.
Where the price of chili has come down a bit, last Thursday night, the price of a kilo of local green pepper was 200 to 300 rupees.

It came down to 120 to 130 rupees on Friday morning in just one day.
Traders see the increase in the supply of Indian chilies as the reason.

About 3 lakh metric tons of raw chilies are produced in the country annually.
As the yield decreases during the monsoon season, the demand is met by importing pepper from India.

According to the Healy Land Port Authority, 24 trucks of chilies entered the country in a single day yesterday.
Which is being sold at 100 to 120 rupees per kg.

However, the price of raw chili is increasing in the Jessore market.

In the morning, it was seen that raw chilies are being sold at Rs 180 to Rs 200 per kg, depending on the quality and variety.
But even three weeks ago, the price of pepper was 70 to 80 rupees per kg.

According to the Department of Agricultural Extension, the target for pepper cultivation in the district this year was set at 700 hectares.
We planted in 75 hectares of land.
According to the Department of Agriculture, the farmers will benefit from the expected yield, and the price of chili will come down.

The sellers think that the prices in the retail market will go down further due to the increase in the import of chilies.

Unrest is going on in Dhaka with the price of raw chilies. It has been alleged that the sellers are arbitrarily taking prices from the buyers. Buyers and sellers also clashed over the price of raw chilies at the capital's Karwan Bazaar on Friday evening.

In the evening, a woman named Sanwara Begum heard the price of raw chilies and started a commotion with the seller. A retailer in Karwan Bazar wants 100 grams of green chilies from him for 30 rupees. And if you buy one kg or more, you can keep 260 rupees. According to Sanwara, he bought raw chilies from a super shop in the morning at Rs 160 per kg. Seeing so much price, he bought a small amount. Thought the price would be lower in the caravan market. But when he came to the market, he was disappointed to hear the price. His question to the seller why the price will be higher in the caravan market?

Why so much?

Raw chilies are being sold at Rs 250 to Rs 400 per kg in different parts of Dhaka today.

A man named Sanjeev said he bought raw chilies this morning for Tk 180. But in a few hours, the price has gone up from 120 to 140 rupees per kg. Biplob Rahman bought 100 grams of raw chilies from a market in Jurain for 40 rupees. Vegetable sellers in the capital's Rampura metropolitan project are keeping the price of chili at Rs 300 to Rs 340 per kg.

It has been noticed that the price of raw chili is much higher in the retail market. That is why many buyers are buying only 500 grams instead of the required one kg of green chilies. Pepper sellers say that when the price of pepper was low, a person would buy an average of 1 kg of green pepper. But now, due to the high price of chilies in the retail market, the interest of the buyers on chilies has decreased a lot.

Bangladesh Department of Agricultural Extension says this initiative in the retail market I will control the price of pepper very quickly. The Bangladesh administration will play a role in keeping the price of pepper within reach of the buyers.
