What is the reason behind corruption?

"Corruption", everyone is well known for this term. Because we often have to face it in our life. If there 'Judhistir' (mythical character described in 'Mahabharat' who never spoke a single lie in his entire life) was alive he would litery die by facing this problem in a single day. Cause it has now mixed with our blood.

So now the question is what is corruption? Well, corruption is a form of dishonesty or criminal offense undertaken by a person of authority, to acquire illicit benefit or abuse power for one's private gain. So now lets come back to the main question, the reason behind corruption.

As per R. Klitgaard, corruption will occur if the corrupt gain is greater than the penalty multiplied by the likelihood of being caught and prosecuted. Klitgaard has also coined a metaphorical formula to illustrate how the amount of corruption depends on the three variables: monopoly (M) on the supply of a good or service, the discretion (D) enjoyed by suppliers, and the supplier's accountability and transparency (A) to others. The amount of corruption (C) could be expressed as

C=M+D-A

According to a 2017 survey study, the following factors have been attributed as the reason behind corruption:

1. The greed of money, desires.

2. Higher levels of market and political monopolization.

3. Low levels of democracy, weak civil participation, and low political transparency.

4. low press freedom.

5. Low economic freedom.

6. Gender inequality.

7. Poverty.

8. Political instability.

9. Weak property rights and most importantly.

10. Lack of education etc.

In my view I will select the lack of education and political instability as the main reason behind this problem. In my region, south Asia. many people are not educated. That's why they fear from territorial goons. This fear shuts them from telling anything against the injustice. They can feel that corruption is bad but they can't say anything of their fear. Again political persons keep pressurizing them not to tell anything. The unjust use of power is another reason behind corruption. Power makes people blind. They feel like, they can do anything with this power. That's the reason they make people fearful of them. Again there is the desire which makes people blind. A good education can change the mentality of the people. But alas, this field is also suffering from this problem. For example, if I am a rich person I can get my children admitted into a good school or college by the money power. It doesn't matter whether my children are worthy of that position or not. Again, if I am a gangster, this process becomes much easier by keeping the authority into my gunpoint. Because nothing in this world is precious than life.

So, the main thing is, we have to make people educated. We need to tell people what they are loosing. Wealth is no one's personal asset, people have to earn it. So, we need to aware of people so that, no one can take their rights. Again we have to elect a good political leader who can assume the fact that he has become powerful because people gave him/her the power. But sadly most of the time it doesn't happen. If the upper powerful people were good this particular thing would never appear.
