What is Anxiety, and How do you deal with it?

What is Anxiety?

Anxiety- a feeling of worry, nervousness, or unease about something with an uncertain outcome. How easy google has defined this word. But is it that easy when you actually have an anxiety attack? Having constant cold feet, sweaty palms, extreme cramps in your stomach, and your head is complete chaos like a fish market. There are days when you are constantly out of the track, you are just lost, and you have a really restless mind 24×7, which is completely exhausting. You can't even tell anyone what is really happening to you; you keep suffering. But you can't waste your time on an uncertain thing. Anxiety is not a thing to be ashamed of. It would be best if you took charge of it.

In studying the brains of anxious subjects, researchers discovered that certain areas of the brain are overactive compared to the brain of those without anxiety; one such area is called the basal ganglia, a set of large structures near the center of the brain that are involved with the integration of thought, feeling and movement as well as motivation and pleasure.

Symptoms of anxiety include:

(1) Shortness of breath

(2) shaking or sweating

(3) Predicting the worst outcome in the situation.

(4) Avoiding risk and conflict.

(5) Having chronic muscle tension.

(2) Recognize that you have a panic attack.

(5) Talking loud.

Spend time with friends and family. If you feel worried or nervous about something, talking about it with someone who listens and cares for you can help you feel more understood and able to cope.

(6) Pay attention to the good things.

A great way to keep our minds off the worry track is to focus our thoughts on good, beautiful, and positive things. Appreciate the small, everyday blessings. Allow yourself to dream, wish and imagine the best that could happen.

(7) Keep lavender on hand

Lavender is known for being soothing and stress-relieving. It can help your body relax. If you know that you're prone to a panic attack, keep some lavender essential oil on your hand and put it on your forearms when you experience a panic attack. Breathe in the scent.
