What I Know About Ketogenic Diet

I have done a keto diet for four weeks, and this is what I have learned from it.

1. You will need multivitamin supplements(a must)

No matter what anyone tells you if you feel lethargic on your keto diet and it's not getting better no matter how much you increase your calorie intake, it only means your body is not getting sufficient micronutrients.

You wake up feeling nauseous and sometimes a headache, or you lose your appetite completely to the point you stuff food in your mouth to swallow and get it over with. You can't focus on anything; the soles of your feet burn if you stand for more than thirty seconds, and this is the moment of truth, that is, your multivitamin supplements.

2. Your poop smells bad

Yes, that's right. I can't even begin to describe how worse it smells like, and you could expect diarrhea in the first week. Oh, by the way, the color of your poop would be dark green.

3. Rapid weight loss on the first week of the week

You will lose about 4 to 5 kgs(on average) on the first week of keto. After that, it kind of slows down. I lost 4 kgs in the first week and the remaining 4 in the later three weeks.

4. Count your macros(a must)

If you don't count your calories, you will most likely cross your daily net carb limit.

Total carbs, net carbs, protein, and fat are the things that you need to keep a track on. There are apps for it too. All you have to do is enter your requirements in that app, and it gives you how your daily intake limit of macros.

5. Keto buddies are important

I'm not gonna lie. I've got this impossible oreo craving on day 3. If I were doing this diet alone, I would've succumbed to it. But thank god, a friend of mine talked me out of that. It's always good to be in touch with people who are going through the same thing. They motiavate you when you feel like giving up and the vice-versa.

6. You'll become carb-conscious

Even after you stop the diet, you'll still see the label on everything you buy. You'll still feel guilty eating unhealthy carbs. This diet makes you eat mindfully if you stick to it long enough. It's also something to do with our willingness to stay consistent too.

7. Take measurements and pictures

In the first week, You'll lose a lot of weight and the next week you might not. That's when measurements come into play. You don't lose weight; what you'll lose is inches. Such a good feeling when the pants you love finally fits you properly.

8. The amount of food

We don't need as much food as we think we do. You will understand that when you do a keto diet. You could be on a moderate calorie diet, and if all the calories come from healthy sources of food, thats a win-win situation for you and your body.

9. Focus

You have very limited food choices. You eat pretty much the same food every day. It saves you a lot of time choosing what to eat. Because of lack of cravings, You'll have better focus, and you work out better too.
