Once cars were regarded as luxury items but not anymore. Cars have now earned its place in our necessities list. But again, it's not the cheapest necessities either. In Bangladesh, due to higher tax duty, cars are costly. Mainstream vehicles such as an allion or Premio cost between 23 to 35 lacs depending on model auction grade color mileage and car condition. But still, there are cars out there affordable to many. And remember just because these cars are cheaper doesn't mean these are any less than an allion or Premio. So here, I have listed down the top 5 vehicles priced below 20 lacs BDT. Since the year is 2020 and we cannot import cars older than five years, I have listed cars of 2015 only.
1) Honda Grace 2015 - New to the Bangladeshi market this car is undoubtedly the best one to pick with a budget of 20 lacs. It comes in three packages starting with the DX(lowest) the LX and ending with the EX(highest). Though it's a bit difficult to get an EX within this budget, a mint condition, DX or LX can be easily found. This car comes in a hybrid variant only.
2) Mazda Axela Hybrid 2015 - This beauty has been running on the roads of Bangladesh for a long time now but in tiny numbers. This car comes in both a hybrid and a non-hybrid variant. But since the government has reduced duty for hybrid vehicles, only that can be found within these 20 lacs. With its sporty exterior and almost premium interior, this car could have been the best selling car in Bangladesh only if it was a Toyota.
3) Toyota Auris 2015 - And finally here comes your most awaited brand, 'Toyota.' Being a Toyota, this car is excellent in terms of reliability. But this 2nd generation Auris has excelled in terms of looks (that is a bit sporty), fuel efficiency (despite being a non-hybrid), comfort and practicality (since it's a hatchback).
4) Toyota Axio 2015 - After being converted to a sub-compact sedan from a compact car, the Toyota Axio didn't only lose some weight, but also it looks as well. But what it has gained is fuel efficiency and reliability. Toyota claims that this 2nd generation Axio has a better, more durable, and more reliable gearbox than it's predecessors. This car is available in both Hybrid and Non-hybrid variants and that too within the budget.
5) Toyota Aqua 2015 - And the last but not the least the Toyota Prius C or commonly known as the Toyota Aqua. Known mostly for its class-leading fuel efficiency, the Aqua was designed targeting the youth and primarily for city driving. Being a hatchback, the Aqua is a bit ahead than most of the other cars listed above in terms of practicality and on par with the Auris. This car comes in five grades that are starting from the bottom of the L S G GS and GS soft leather. Pricing starts from 13 lacs and goes all the way up to 17 lacs depending on model auction grade color mileage and car condition, thus making it the most affordable car in this list.
