Is fitness band really useful?

Since the introduction of the Fitbit in 2009, Fitness trackers which are wearable taken fitness to the next level. Nowadays it is like fashion, you can see probably every wrist clipped to a belt with one of the little devices. Its popularity is at the peak. Everyone loves to use it. Ask them and they will tell you how many steps they have taken or how many calories they've burnt etc.

While there are many bands which are come with a steep price tag. Best fitness tracks can range from $60 to $200. At these high prices, many people haven't started wearing fitness bands.

 

 

How does it work

 

The fitness band comes with a wide variety of range, functions and some works better than others. Given below are some function of fitness bands:

  1. Count your steps: Probably every fitness band can measure the distance you've walked and count your step. It contains an accelerometer, a device that measures the speed and direction. With this tool, a band can track your steps and also measure your movements.
  2. Tracking other movements: Some costly bands also contain other sensors which measure your other movement, such as in which direction you are spinning or whether you are sitting, standing, or lying in your bed, etc. It also contains a barometer that can measure atmospheric pressure, can calculate how many stairs you have climbed, and a GPS that can track your location.
  3. Heart rate measurement: Nowadays fitness trackers are come with a heart rate monitor to measure your pulse, while you are working out as well as you are resting. By this, it calculates how hard you're working out.
  4. Tracking Calories: As fitness trackers can track your heart rate. It uses your heart rate to estimate how many calories you’ve burned during the day. It also comes with an app that records how many calories are consumed by you. Like this, it can track your calorie consumption and calories you've burned to help weight loss.
  5.  Sleep monitoring: Many of them can also tell how is your sleep. It detects motion while we're awake, in light sleep, or deep sleep. But this function sometimes may not work well.
    Sometimes it tells few hours less or more than you really sleep.

 

So these are some of the functions of fitness bands. Not all trackers have these functions there may be a few more or less. We can divide them into two categories "All-Day-rackers" to keeps track of your daily activities. The second one is "Traning Trackers" which do basic work with some extra features. This is mainly for hardcore trainers. You can some of them with your phone and can play music while you're working out, can send messages and call and receiving calls.

 


The benefit of Fitness band

 

A question comes to mind why it is becoming more and more popular nowadays? The main reason behind this is it keeps us motivates and keeps us active. As we can keep track of our data it becomes more rewarding when we are on target on losing weight or gaining weight etc. For example, hitting a specific target of 10000 or 20000 steps per day makes us more excited as it is our first step towards a healthy life. 

Some other benefits are :

  • It keeps track of our overall health.
  • It measures our progress towards the goal.
  • By using a fitness band we can train more effectively.

 


The drawback of fitness Band

 

  1. Cost: A good fitness band is of high cost. People may buy the cheaper one. But the cheaper ones are not very good. The more feature is added the price will rise higher. Like there will be no GPS trackers in the cheap one. So you have to use the smartphone to keep track of your results.
  2. Inaccurate results: Many studies have found that it is great in measuring steps but it is not good in measuring other data such as sleep data etc. Their calorie measurement can be high or low. We can end up with overall fitness.

 


What fitness band can't tell about you: 

  • How STRONG you feel before, during, or after a workout.
  • How you FEEL during movement. Um, endorphins anyone?
  • The relationships you have made from moving your body.
  • A STRONGER mind, body, and spirit.
  • How GOOD you look (and most importantly feel) in that new workout outfit you bought last week.
  • And lastly, that you are a total BADASS that doesn't need a fitness watch to tell them otherwise.

 

 

Conclusion

 

Whether a fitness band will improve your health or not. If you are feeling positive after wearing it or you are sleeping well, doing more workouts than it is good to buy. But maybe be you can do this with your smartphone also. There are many apps that can also track your daily activities. In this case, there is no need to buy these bands. But if you are spending money on it then make sure to get full out of it. Wear it every day so that you can know your details. Finally be sure to focus on long terms goals instead of the one-day goal, like by doing more workouts than the previous week. If you did that's great. Celebrate.
