LCHF
Few people today have not heard of the LCHF or Low Carb High Fat Diet or the Keto Diet. This diet has been around for a long time. Although not very popular in the news media, this diet is well known to people today through the new media such as Facebook, Telegram and WhatsApp. Many chronic diseases, such as diabetes and obesity, which were never thought to be completely cured, are now being cured with this diet.
What is the Keto Diet?
Our body uses two main fuels for energy. One is glucose from starch. The other is fat. Usually we use starchy foods like grains, tubers, fruits and sugar for energy. But in the Keto or LCHF diet we eat foods that are very low in starch. Butter, ghee, olive oil, coconut oil, meat, fish, eggs, nuts and vegetables.
The liver produces ketones from fat while eliminating starches from our diet. These ketones are the energy used by the body to replace glucose. Ketone is a better fuel than glucose that can be used in our brains.
The keto diet is a diet that produces ketones in this way. It is low in starch and high in fat. Hence it is also known as low carb high fat. Strictly speaking, Keto is a less starchy diet than LCHF. Only less than 20 grams of starch per day is allowed in the keto diet.
Although the keto diet has only become so familiar in recent times, starch-lowering diets have long been popular around the world. Named the Banting Diet, the Paleo Diet and the Atkins Diet.
In the Stone Age, when our ancestors lived, they did not eat sugar or refined starches. Grains have been around for a very short time in human history. Man began to inhabit the earth more than five million years ago. But it has been tens of thousands of years since grains began to be used. The bottom line is that none of our genes are still matched to grains. But it has been 200 years since refined starches and sugars began to be used. That is why our body is fed on the same fats and fats that our ancestors ate.
Why This Diet?
This diet eliminates the accumulated bad odors in the body, cures diseases like diabetes, removes blockages in the blood vessels caused by edema, and eliminates appetite and cravings for food. Above all, our energy and vitality increase.
