We are going to create our website in just 2 parts.
The first part is to Launch your website.
Once you launch your website, your website will be LIVE on the internet. So to Launch your website, we're going to do 3 steps;
The first step is to create an account in Profreehost. (This is the website which is going to help us create our website for free). So create the account, go to profreehost.com and click Register, fill up the details. So now we have successfully created our account. Once you've created the account,
We can go to step 2, which is to Get your free domain. (A domain is the name of your website, you can get your own domain name). To get your domain name let's click create new, now enter the name you want for your website. Once you have got your domain,
we can now go to step 3, which is to Install WordPress on your domain. (wordpress is the platform which we're going to use to create our website. It lets you build website easily without any coding and programming).
Once you install wordpress, your website will be LIVE on the internet.
To install wordpress, just click Manage and then click control panel scroll down the mouse pointer under the softwares select apps installer and then select wordpress then click Install. And get a new page, scroll down and you need to enter a username and password for wordpress. This will be used to login to your website. Once you enter these details click Install.You can see wordpress is successfully installed.
You can see that, we have got the link to our website, this means our website is LIVE on the internet. So to check it, let's click on the link and you can see we have a brand new website on the name which we selected.
So now we have successfully launched our website for free.
We can now go to the next part, which is to Start building your website.
Your website will have a default wordpress theme. To change the default theme , we're going to do 3 steps.
The first step is to Login to your website.
To login to your site type /wp-admin after your site address and get a login page of your website. Enter the login details which you created for your wordpress website and click Login. We have successfully logged into our wordpress site.. So once you are logged in,
we can now go to step 2, which is to choose a design for your website.
Now instead of building your websitefrom scratch. You sre going to choose a design and then edit it, to make your own website.
So to choose your website design, you need to install a theme called Astra in wordpress.
To install the theme, let's go to the Appearance and click Themes. Then click Add New Theme and search for a theme called Astra, click Install button and then click Activate. Now we have installed the theme.
To choose your designs click Get started and reached a new page then click on Elementor (is which will make it easy for you to edit your website). So let's select that. Then you can see different types of designs which you can apply to your site.Just Choose the one you like.
To apply that design to your site , just click Import complete site and then click Import. The entire design will now be imported to your site. Then go to the address tab, that page sees how our site was before. Now if you click refresh button you can see that, we have now got the entire design into our site.
Now we have successfully got the design into our site.
Now how do you change the content of these pages?
So let's go to the step 3 , which is to Edit the contents of your website. To edit any page of your site
- Go into that page
- and click Edit with Elementor
you'll then go to an editing section , now to edit ant text or image , just select it and change anything you want. This process works throughout the website.
To change the image , just click on the image then drag and drop your image from the computer. Then you can see the image has been changed. Once you re done the all changes, click Update. Then go to your site click Refresh. This is how you can edit any page of your website.
Now if you want to edit the header and the footer area of your website. Now by using Elementor you will be able to change. Just click Customize to edit the logo or menu section, you can see a blue icon , if you want change the logo just click on blue icon. The same way you can change the menu section. Once you have done with the changes click Publish, then the changes will be made on your website. Now let's close this tab , then go to our site , we saw how you can change the header area of your websiye.
Now what if you want to add a new page to your website?
To add a new page , just go to New and click page, you need to first enter a title , now to start creating a page just click Edit with Elementor and it will take to do the blank section. Now you can use 2 options to create your page;
- create your own page by dragging and dropping elements using Elementor.
- Use pre-made designs using templates (templates are ready-made pages which you can import into your site) .
So now we have successfully created iour website for free.
Once you made your website, now as we see our domain has the extra text after the site name which we selected. Instead of this , if you want to get a domain like yoursite.com you can get it by purchasing a .com domain.
Next let's learn how you can get a .com domain name,
to get a domain name with .com, just click this link https://in.godaddy.com/offers/domains/imc/godaddy-b , and it will take you to godaddy.com. search for the domain name you selected, add it to cart and purchase it. So now we have successfully got our domain.
So now how do we move the website we built to this domain?
To do that we're going to do 3 steps,
first step is to add your domain to profreehost. Now enter your domain name in parked domain section. Once you have entered the domain,
Let's go to step 2 which is to add DNS records to godaddy. You need to add the 2 records from profreehost to godaddy. Once you have added these records , your new domain will be added to profreehost.
So once you've added your domain, we can go to the final step which is to add your domain name to wordpress. Now to go Settings in wordpress and replace the domain which you purchased with the free domain.
So this is how we got the website which we built on this new .com domain.
