Hathras Case Special Team SIT Visits Crime Scene, Report Tomorrow.

Hathras Uttar Pradesh:

A Special Investigation Team or SIT probing the alleged gang rape and torture in Uttar Pradesh’s Hathras of a young Dalit woman, who died last week, reached her village this morning.

The probe panel, formed by the Yogi Adityanath government, visited the crime scene and the cremation and is probably to submit its report tomorrow.

The country government set up the three-member panel amid immense criticism over its handling of the case.

The team, accompanied by a forensic expert, used to be seen walking through the field toward the place the incident took place.

The probe team also visited the site where the lady was cremated. After the woman’s death at a hospital in Delhi, the UP police took away her body and forcibly cremated it in her village at 2.30 am, refusing to hand it over to her family. The cremation website is near to the woman’s family.

They head the special team via UP Home Secretary Bhagwan Swaroop, Deputy Inspector General of Police Chandraprakash, and IPS officer Poonam.

“Tomorrow will complete our probe. We hope that we can submit the report to the country government tomorrow.

If we’re unable to complete the probe due to any reason, we can have another day or two,” sources in the probe panel said.

The 20-year-old female was assaulted by four men of the so-called higher caste community at her village on September 14 and left with horrific wounds, including fractures, a spinal injury that left her paralyzed, and a gash in her tongue.

The UP police, accused of a slow response to the woman’s complaint, has alleged that there was once no rape or gang rape involved and that a forensic report proves it.

That claim has been questioned with experts who point out I took the samples 11 days after we attacked the female.

They cremated the victim in the middle of the nighttime “to avoid large-scale violence” the next morning, the Uttar Pradesh Government told the Supreme Court today, citing Genius inputs of “major law and order problems.”

In an affidavit to the Supreme Court, the UP government also justified the 2.30 am cremation, saying there was once a high alert in the district because of the Babri mosque verdict a day later.

The incident has come to mild amid widespread outrage over the death and alleged gangrape of a Dalit woman in Hathras by 4 "upper caste" men and the Uttar Pradesh administration's response to the incident.

The woman's family alleged the body was burnt at night time without their approval, but the local police said the cremation used to be done "as per the wishes of the family."

Citing an FSL report, the Hathras police also claimed that the woman used to be not raped.

The UP government has requested the Centre to order a CBI probe into the incident as "fake narratives were being spread about the case with political motives." On Tuesday, it informed the Supreme Court the CBI probe might be conducted under its supervision.
