Developing Reading Habit

I like reading books. But I always see that people, especially youngsters, don't want to read books. They prefer to watch YouTube videos, play games instead of reading a book. Well, they fail to understand that reading books have a lot of benefits. Not only it helps to develop your vocabulary but also your writing abilities. Reading helps to improve your imaginative power as well as helps to boost sleep. Well, even after all of these people don't like to read. So today I am going to share the top 5 tips on how to develop reading as a habit

Selecting a Genre

Before beginning, I would like to begin answering with a simple example. What would have happened if Sachin Tendulkar was forced to sing?. Well, the answer is simply that he won't be able to sing similarly if you read a book that you don't like. You will fail at the very first attempt. Every individual has a different taste ranging from Romance, Thriller to Spiritual books, and Self Development. Reading a book of your favorite genre will develop an interest in reading.

Setting a Goal

Well, it is tough for a beginner to read 30 pages or 20 pages. So what I would suggest is to set a goal for reading 8 to 10 pages daily. When you feel that you can read ten pages easily in a day, increase the number to 12. If you start reading 30 pages in a day, you will feel like giving up on reading forever. Let your reading ability improve slowly and steadily.

Don't Count the pages of Book

Well, many people give up on reading because of the pages. Well, if you read a book by counting its pages, you won't be able to read a text anytime. Don't panic about the pages. Just stick to your goal of reading ten pages daily. You will see that you will be able to complete an average book of 300 pages in only 30 days.

Begin with Short Stories or Novella

Well, if you think that you will not be able to read an average novel, start reading short stories. An average short account is 10 to 15 pages. So you will be able to get done with a short story in a day or two. Another perfect option is reading a Novella. Well, Novella is more than a short story but less than a novel. Well put it in clear terms Novella is of 70 to 150 pages, which makes it more than a short story but less than a Novel. Another option is reading a newspaper. What you can do is pick a favorite column and give it a reading. It will be economical as it comes very handy and will improve your knowledge.

Don't Haste

Well, while reading a book, don't haste. Take your time and read freely. Most importantly, don't burden yourself with the idea of reading. Take it slowly and steadily. Remember, it takes a while to develop a habit. Always remember, "Rome wasn't built in a day." Thank you.
