9 Best Indian Foods And Drinks To Cool You Down This Summer

Our bodies, in response to the weather, want us to avoid fatty, heavy, and spicy foods. Summer means our bodies crave cool, water-absorbing and light food. It is also important that summer food does not force us to spend too much time in front of the cooking stove, which adds to the sweating and discomfort.

Come summer, I make sure I keep my kitchen with ingredients like dahi (curd), pioneer, Poha, boiled potatoes, cucumber, mango and Moong sprouts - foods that can be made into quick and easy salads and snack

I was curious to know what kind of food (and drinks) people liked during the summer. I went to Twitter and asked people about their favorite foods in the summer and got a lot of answers. Here's what I found.

 

 

1. Dahi

Delhi or yogurt is a popular summer ingredients It can be eaten raw or made into a variety of dishes, delicious and delicious. 

Rice with curd, which is easy to prepare and fill, tops the list. This basic dish can be used for several variations.

 

 

2. Mangos

Indian summer and mango go hand in hand. What’s a mango-free summer menu included in every possible meal? A long glass of cold mango juice makes for a quick and filling breakfast. It can also be used as one of the fruits to make your breakfast smoothie naturally. Mango is the perfect ingredient to try with a variety of desserts.

 

 

3. Other summer fruits

Watermelon, muskmelon, grapes and litchi, with its high water content and flavor, make for a perfect summer meal. Eaten whole or as part of salads, smoothies or juices, these fruits are a refreshing way to opt for hot summer days.

 

 

4. Coconut water

Coconut water is the best natural, healthy drink one can have on any road in India.

 

 

5. Rooh Afza

Rooh Afza is another iconic drink that people love or hate. Combined with water or iced milk, it is said that there are cooling agents from various herbs used in the parts.

 

 

6. Ice coffee and tea

There is nothing more refreshing than sitting near water on a sunny day, sipping cold ice drinks. A simple cup of coffee with lots of ice can go a long way in kicking off your morning start. Recent research shows a cup of coffee containing caffeine a day helps reduce the risk of developing non-melanoma skin cancer by about 10%. Homemade tea can also help reduce the risk of Alzheimer's and diabetes as it is rich in a class of antioxidants called flavonoids. A squirt of lemon juice in tea helps retain antioxidants and makes it a perfect summer drink.

 

 

7. Watermelon

We know for sure that we will not be able to walk without that high sugar cane. Dehydration can lead to many more problems, especially in the summer. Watermelons and muskmelons are very high in water content which helps to regulate body temperature. Staying well hydrated helps to keep your memory sharp and glowing skin. Watermelons also help with weight loss when combined with exercise as the high water content keeps you satisfied with very few calories.

 

 

8. Corn

There is nothing like the taste of fresh corn on a cob on a peaceful summer evening. This usable dish is not only delicious but also rich in starch. It helps to provide the body with lutein and zeaxanthin which help eye health and its antioxidants are also helping to reduce the risk of age-related developmental blindness in the elderly.

 

 

9. Berries

Summer is the wet season for all flavonoid-laden berries that help the body fight many serious infections. Strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries are also known to increase blood flow throughout the body, rejuvenate the skin and reduce sensitivity to light, making the skin appear brighter and improve texture. This can be trivial during difficult summer months. Berries are also high in fiber, about 8 grams per cup.
