You know what ? About the Begums of Bhopal | Let's Know about Bhopal princely state

The Bhopal princely state of Bhopal was founded in 1723 1724 AD by Mohammad Khan, an Afghan soldier of the Mughal army.

Bhopal was received as a gift for helping Kamalavati, the queen of Bhopal. After this, friend Mohammad Khan conquered Jagdishpur, 10 km from Bhopal and made it his capital and changed it to Islam Nagar. Shortly thereafter, friend Mohammad Khan conquered Sehore, Ashta, Khiljipur, Ginnoregarh, Devipura and holding the title of Nawab in 1728 AD after the death of friend Mohammad Khan, his son, Yaar, became the first Nawab of his son Mohammad Khan.

In March 1818, the Anglo-Bhopal treaty was signed during the reign of Mohammad Khan.

Bhopal's beg

1. Kudasia Begum/ Gauhar Begum (1819-1837 AD)

It was the first Muslim woman ruler of Bhopal, by which famous buildings like Jama Masjid and Gauhar Mahal have been constructed.

2. Sikandar Jahan Begum (1844-1868 AD)

During the revolution of 1857, he supported the British and buildings like Moti Masjid and Moti Mahal were constructed by them.

3. Shah Jahan Begum (1868-1901 AD)

A new suburb named Shahjahanabad was settled by him. Lal Kothi was constructed by them in Bhopal, which is currently Raj Bhavan.

4. Ke Khusro Jahan Begum (Sultan Jahan Begum) 1901-1926 AD

He built a palace Noor-Us-Sab which has currently been converted into a heritage hotel. It was also the first Chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University and his palace was known as Shaukat Mahal, which is currently the office of Bhopal Municipal Corporation.

5. Begum Shajida Sultan (1961-1995 AD)

Begum Shajida Sultan K. Khusro where Begum and Hamidullah Khan were the second daughter. Begum Abida Sultan, the eldest daughter of Hamidullah Khan, had settled in Pakistan after partition of India. Therefore, Hamidullah Khan's younger daughter Shajida became the new Nawab of Sultan Bhopal. Begum Shajida was married to Ikhtiar Ali Khan, the Nawab of Pataudi. That is why Nawab Pataudi is also called the Nawab of Bhopal.
