World diabetes day: why do we celebrate this day? Things you should know.

The life-saving discovery of insulin was made 100 years before. Yet many discoveries are to be made, they would be beneficial to the people in the world. Even, there's a chance of discovery of such medicine that would be able to cure diabetes completely. The researches are yet going on.

If we talk about the death rate caused by diabetes, then up to 4.2 million people have lost their lives in 2019. Even there are chances that, diabetes remains undiagnosed in some people.

The lifestyle of people has decorated, so much nowadays. Day by day there's an increase in the deterioration of lifestyle and an increase in the busy lifestyle. People even don't have free time to work out and focus on their diet.

This leads to slow metabolism in the body. And the chances of getting diabetes have been increased. Due to this reason, it is expected that the number of people suffering from diabetes would rise to 578 million in 2030.

Even after the discovery of insulin, millions of people can't afford this treatment and lost their lives. They can't even afford the proper care and medications they need.

Every year, world diabetes day is celebrated on the 14th of November. The problems related to diabetes have doubled since 1980, globally. This means, that the problems have been raised from four-point seven percentage to eight-point five percentage in the adult population.

Diabetes is a major cause of kidney failure, heart attack, liver damage, and strokes. What helps to avoid diabetes is a healthy diet and avoiding tobacco, alcohol, and wine.

These measures help to prevent type 2 diabetes.

One should have a proper diet and treatments and regular screening to avoid or to prevent diabetes.

To grow the awareness of the life-threatening disease of diabetes, world diabetes day was created in 1991.

In 2006, it was celebrated as world United Nations day. This day is celebrated on the account of the birthday of sir, Fredrick Bentinck, who discovered insulin in 1992.

Due to his successful discovery of insulin in 1992, the day is celebrated as world diabetes day to grow awareness among the people about this disease.

This day is the world's largest diabetes awareness campaign. The logo for this campaign is represented by the blue circle.

UN resolution approved this logo in 2009. Every campaign has its motto and theme.

The theme of this campaign of 2021 is " Access to diabetes care, if not now, when? 

As talked earlier, that even after the discovery of insulin, millions of people are not able to afford the proper care and medications along with insulin itself.

The need for medication, technologists, care, and support is increasing day by day. So it becomes very my h crucial for a government to take certain steps to fulfill these demands and save millions of lives.

There's a need to increase investment, in preventing diabetes and giving proper care and medications.

Making availability of insulin, measuring blood glucose levels, self-monitor of daily life activities and exercise, and education are the fundamental principles of diabetes care.

Even healthy food and exercise are too much important. One can see world diabetes day as a reminder to get screenings if he or she is suffering from any symptoms.
