Ram Navami is celebrated to mark the birth of Lord Shri Ram, son of King Dashrath and Queen Kaushalya. He is also known as 'Maryada Purshottam' & the seventh avatar of Lord Vishnu.

 On the day of Ram Navami, the family should take a vow of bathing, etc., by wearing clean clothes. An idol or a picture of Ramji's childhood can also be kept at the place of worship. The latter should be anointed with Ganga water. Worship should be done with roli, sandalwood, rice, incense, ashwagandha, flowers, etc. Fruits and homemade sweets or dishes should be offered to them and sacrificed. Prasad should be distributed among the people after the completion of pooja. One should fast by eating fruits.
