Why is the festival of Holi celebrated?

There are some beliefs behind celebrating the Holi festival. Let's study:

1. According to the Shiva Purana, Shiva was absorbed in his penance and Parvati, the daughter of the Himalayas, was also performing rigorous penance to marry Shiva. Indra's selfishness was hidden from the marriage of Shiva-Parvati as Tarakasura was to be slaughtered by the son of Shiva-Parvati. That is why Indra sent Kamdev to dissolve Shiva's penance, but Shiva Ji got angry and consumed Kamdev.

But the penance of Shiva was dissolved and then later the gods persuaded Shiva to marry Parvati. Based on this legend, Holi is celebrated as a celebration of the triumph of true love.

2. After the marriage of Vasudev and Devaki, when Kansa was leaving Devaki, he came to know by Akashwani that the eighth son of Vasudev and Devaki would be the cause of his death. Then Kansa put both of them in jail.

Six sons of Devaki were killed by Kamsa and the seventh son was Balaram, the incarnation of Shesh Nag. His part was transferred before the birth of Vasudev's second wife Rohini. Then Shri Krishna was incarnated as the eighth son. At the same time, Vasudev took Shri Krishna to Gokul with Nanda and Yashoda at night and brought his newborn girl with him.

But Kansa could not kill that girl, and again there was a voice from Akash that the person who killed Kansa was born in Gokul. For this reason, Kansa had given the task of killing all the babies born in Gokul on that day to the demoniac Putna to kill Shri Krishna.

She went to breastfeed the babies in the form of a beautiful woman, but Sri Krishna killed the demonic effigy. That day was Phalgun Purnima. Hence the end of evil and in this joyous festival of Holi began to be celebrated.

3. Holi festival of colours is also associated with the holy love of Radha-Krishna. In the spring, a part of Shri Krishna Leela is also considered to be coloured. That is why the Holi of Mathura-Vrindavan is immersed in the colour of love of Radha-Krishna. Lathmar Holi is played in Barsane and Nandgaon.

4. We all know the story related to Prahlada and Holika in which Hiranyakashyap had sent his sister Holika in the fire to end the devotee Vishnu Prahlad but the boon of Holika proved fruitless and he himself died by burning in that fire. Has gone. Similarly, the ego, evil was defeated and in the joy of this victory of Prahlada, the festival of Holi began to be celebrated.

5. There was a Prithu king, there was a demon named Dhundi in his time. She used to eat newborn babies because she had the blessing that no god, human, weapon or weapon could kill her. For this reason, the people of Raza were very upset. And there will be no effect of cold, heat and rain on it. At that time, the Rajpurohit of the king told a way to eliminate that demon. On the full moon day of Phalgun month, when there will be no more winter and summer, all the children of the area will place each wood in one place and burn, chant and chant the Agri, then the demon will die. Seeing so many children, the monstrous find came close to them and it was destroyed there due to the effect of mantras. Since then, the festival of Holi began to be celebrated.

So there were various stories related to the festival of Holi, which shows why the festival of Holi is celebrated.
