Why is “A Thousand Splendid Suns” regarded as the best creation of Khaled Hosseini ?

"A Thousand Splendid Suns " is a trendy novel by Khaled Hosseini. It is his 2nd novel, which enjoys a special place in the hearts of people. His fictional works are mainly focused on the war of Afghanistan.

Let's start the review of the book, with its popular lines -

"One couldn't count the moons that shimmer on her roofs,
Or the thousand suns that hide behind her walls."

A Thousand Splendid Suns mirror a story that accentuates the hardships of women in Afghanistan. The plots are set in Afghanistan during the communists, followed by Taliban rules. The complete novel whirls around changing circumstances in a very unpleasant way and the dejection of two central characters Mariam and Laila.

While going through this book, it reminded me of William Styron, who said, "A great book should leave you with many experiences, and slightly exhausted at the end. You live several lives while reading ." It's a kind of book which will surely reside within your soul.

The story is predicated on Mariam, who is a spurious child of Jalil. Jalil is characterized as a wealthy trader, settled in the town of Herat. After Mariam's mother's death, Jalil forcibly gets her married to a man who was 30 years older than her.

Soon after the marriage, Mariam becomes a victim of domestic violence and confinement at Rasheed's hands due to her inability to produce children. The author describes her situation as " a legitimate end to a life of legitimate belongings. "

Khaled beautifully quotes, "Marriage can wait, education cannot. "

The other major portrait of the novel is Laila. She's a  young girl with big hopes, desires, and aspirations. Her father was an optimist who encouraged her to get an education and always raise the voice for herself. He expects Laila to be a unique personality and inspire others to be like her. But all their dreams were shaken up by a Taliban bombing.

This story also explores the rare bond of Laila and Mariam, their dedication to staying tough in a biased society. It provides the readers the message that " For this world is a miracle, but you'll never see it untill you realize that you are one yourself."

What's truly notable about Khaled Hosseini's writing is his way of narrating the story. Every character is etched out perfectly. The reader can virtually since every incident occurs. They can involve themselves in the story while reading. Many reviews suggest that it's a sad story, but it can literally make you cry ( I mean it when I say literally).

The torment of detachment and torture, the struggle of raising your voice, the incomplete expectations, the silent complaints, and the inability to express one's feelings are some of the themes, which is best described in this book. The book is a perfect blend of drama and fiction, which truly makes it a page-turner.

"A Thousand Splendid Suns " is undeniably better than thousands of novel and definitely a splendid read. In my opinion, this book is a must-read for every reader who loves to read about the reality of society.
