WHO IS SHAHEEN SHAH AFRIDI

 

       Shaheen Shah Afridi is a talented Pakistani cricketer who has rapidly risen to prominence in international cricket. Born on April 6, 2000, in Khyber Agency, Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA), Pakistan, he is a left-arm fast bowler known for his height, pace, and ability to swing the ball both ways. Shaheen's extraordinary skills and performances have earned him widespread recognition and admiration, making him one of the most promising young cricketers in the world.

 

   From a young age,

Shaheen displayed a passion for cricket, and his talent was quickly noticed by local coaches and talent scouts. He began his journey in the sport at the Rawalpindi Cricket Club before moving on to play for the Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) cricket team. His exceptional performances in domestic cricket caught the attention of the selectors, and he was soon included in the Pakistan Under-19 squad.

   

     Shaheen's breakthrough moment came during the 2018 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup, held in New Zealand. He emerged as one of the tournament's top performers, taking 12 wickets in five matches, including a memorable five-wicket haul against arch-rivals India in the semi-final. His skill, pace, and maturity at such a young age drew praise from cricketing legends and pundits alike.

 

     Following his success at the Under-19 level, Shaheen Shah Afridi quickly made the transition to the senior Pakistan cricket team. He made his T20 International debut against the West Indies in April 2018, followed by his One-Day International (ODI) debut against Afghanistan in September of the same year. His Test debut came against Ireland in May 2018, where he showcased his potential as a fast bowler with a fifer in the second innings.

 

    As he continued to perform consistently in all formats of the game, Shaheen soon became a vital part of Pakistan's bowling attack. His left-arm pace, accuracy, and ability to move the ball both in the air and off the pitch made him a genuine threat to opposition batsmen. Moreover, his tall stature allowed him to generate extra bounce, making him an even more challenging proposition for batsmen to handle.

 

    Shaheen's standout performances include his memorable spell of 6/35 against Bangladesh in the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup, which earned him the distinction of being the youngest bowler to take a six-wicket haul in World Cup history.
