Who is Maharaja Ranjit?

Ranjit's father, Maha Singh, was the commander of Sukarchakia Missile. Located in western Punjab, this area was headquartered in Gujranwala. At an early age, Maharaja Ranjit Singh lost one of his eyesight due to smallpox. He was only 12 years old when his father passed away, and the entire burden of the throne fell on his shoulders.

 

A descendant of Guru Nanak completed his coronation. He made Lahore his capital and moved to Amritsar in 1802.

 


 Maharaja Ranjit fought many battles against the Afghans and drove them towards West Punjab. Now they have the right to the Pashtun area, including Peshawar.

 

This was the first time that a non-Muslim ruled over the Pashtuns. After that, he also took over Peshawar, Jammu and Kashmir, and Anandpur. He is also credited with forming the first modern Indian Army - the "Sikh Khalsa Sena." Under his patronage, Punjab was now a mighty state.

 

This powerful army prevented Britain from grabbing Punjab for a long time. There was an occasion when Punjab was the only state which was not occupied by the British. According to the British historian J. T.

 

Wheeler, if he were a generation old, he would have conquered India's whole. Maharaja Ranjit himself was illiterate, but he greatly encouraged education and art in his kingdom.


 He established law and order in Punjab and never sentenced anyone to death. His state was secular. He also banned the jizya levied on Hindus and Sikhs. Never force anyone to adopt Sikhism. He installed marble and gold plated in the Hari Mandir Sahib Gurudwara of Amritsar; it was called the Golden Temple.


   The precious diamond Kohinoor was the jewel of Maharaja Ranjit Singh's treasure. Maharaja Ranjit died in 1839. His mausoleum was built in Lahore, which is still standing there today. With his death, the British started tightening their grip on Punjab. In the British Sikh War 849, Punjab was made a part of the British Empire, and the Kohinoor was introduced to Queen Victoria.

 


Introduction:


Ranjit Singh was born in 1780 AD. I was born in a Jat Sikh family. On the death of Mahan Singh, Ranjit Singh became the leader of Missal Sukarchakia at the age of twelve. 1798 When Zaman Shah returned from Punjab, he took possession of Lahore.

 

Gradually, from the Sutlej to the Indus, he conquered all the misls that were ruling. The rulers of Phulkiyon Misl were ruling between Sutlej and Yamuna. 1806 AD In, Ranjit Singh tried to control these too but failed.

 


Ranjit Singh had many qualities of military leadership. They were visionary. He was a dark-skinned man of short stature. One of his eyes was gone from the smallpox outbreak. But despite this, he was brilliant. So as long as he was alive, all the misls were suppressed.


 At that time, the British kingdom had reached the Yamuna, and the kings of Phulkiyan Misl began to accept the British empire's dominance. The British forbade Ranjit Singh from this act.

 

Ranjit Singh did not consider it appropriate to fight the British and made a treaty that we would not extend our kingdom beyond the Sutlej. Ranjit Singh summoned the French troops and prepared his army under his military command in a foreign manner.

 


    They started invading the southern, western, and northern parts of Punjab and, in ten years, extended their kingdom to Multan, Peshawar, and Kashmir.


Ranjit Singh must have taken Peshawar under his control, but he had to fight hard for many years to take full control of that province. He has become the lord of the whole Punjab, And he did not face the British's intervention.

 

But when the British sought help from the Sikhs against Napoleon's armies, they did not receive it.
     Ranjit Singh died in 1808 AD. In the name of his ambitious mother-in-law, Sadako had changed the state of Peshawar. Because it was a British agent woman.

 

Ranjit Singh had imprisoned him by quarreling with his ill-fated mother-in-law and took possession of Hwang's fort. A detachment of British troops rescued the captive widow Sadakaur and restored authority. Ranjit Singh did not want any quarrel with the British army.
