Alternatives to Clickbank

It is a dominant player in many areas of technology.  We know how Microsoft pretty much dominates every aspect of PC technology.  There are smaller companies that dominate application areas like Adobe for PDF files or Photoshop for photo editing.  And when it comes to the Internet and online marketplaces, Clickbank is undoubtedly the dominant force.    But it's good to know what alternatives exist for comparison purposes.  And perhaps the biggest real threat to Clickbank's dominance is a site called PayDotCom.

Each of these great alternatives has something to offer as well as some disadvantages.  But it pays to know what to look for so you can make an intelligent decision.  There is no doubt that Clickbank dominates the field for good reasons.    Clickbank is by far the largest affiliate marketplace in the world.  So by listing your product on Clickbank you can potentially see it picked up by over 150,000 affiliates if they notice you.  That's quite a sales army to make money off of.

Another advantage of using Clickbank that makes it stand out from PayDotCom is that you can get this army of affiliates to sell your products far and wide without paying them a cent.  This is handled by a commission system, which means that all money goes only to the successful ones and their part of the financial structure of the site.  This is a great way to organize their services and it has paid off for Clickbank and the rest of us.

Some of the policy decisions that Clickbank has made are not so brilliant and put them on the negative side of the rating.  A policy that is beneficial to Clickbank customers but causes a lot of problems is their iron clan refund policy.  This is an excellent customer relationship approach because it sends the message that Clickbank stands behind the products sold on the service.  But in a world like Clickbank, where the entire transaction and all the products are digital, that pretty much leaves the door open for thieves and thieves who download products and then ask for a refund without explanation.

PayDotCom is an alternative to Clickbank that has failed to capture as much of the market.  The commission issue may be one of the reasons why their growth is slower.    Because Clickbank pays affiliates and keeps that burden off the marketers who come to the market, transactions are clean and more marketers feel free to participate in Clickbank.  And since Clickbank has become the leading marketplace for digital products, more affiliates want to be involved, which only further increases the site's momentum to dominate this market.

On the other side of the transaction, when a merchant wants to put a product on the marketplace and then go through supporting steps like linking to it from a website and adding keyword-optimized articles to drive traffic to the products, that merchant wants you know there is the largest affiliate base out there. that will take it from there and actually get this product into wide distribution and sales.  There is simply no better way to do this than to go with Clickbank.

In a way, Clickbank succeeds by its success.  And while PayDotCom is a viable alternative, it's hard to capture
