I now find great pleasure in purchasing paintings of folk art.I seem to have looked everywhere for them.I recently came across a number of folk art paintings, and I'm having a hard time deciding which one to buy.
In 1944, Rev. Howard minster painted a folk art piece titled Howard. This 1988 folk art painting is made entirely of enamel. This portrait's smile is very enticing, and it makes me smile just as big.
Another piece of folk art that really grabs my attention is a painting by Bill Dodge in October 1962. First Trolley to Van Nuys is the painting's title. The ship's painting shows the town's center with its entire population.They can be seen in the street and in the windows. Vibrant color is used to depict the town market, bakery, Hotel Van Nuys, ice cream shop, and Wing Lee Laundry.Signs that read "Ban the Monster" and "Keep Van Nuys rural" are displayed by the women in the foreground, who are opposed to the trolley.
One of the best folk artists in America is Thomas Chambers.I discovered a work by him that I simply do not enjoy very much.I don't like how austere it is.The subject is a fishing scene with townspeople and boats.Because I don't like it, I don't think I'll buy this folk art painting.
I really enjoy a 1940 folk art painting by the name of "Alligator Fisher" that I discovered.The trees in the bayou give it a very Southern vibe, and the blue of the water is very calming.The painting has a swamp house, and I really like this one.It strongly evokes memories of Louisiana.
