What is the solar system?

This is solar system

The objective of this units is to study the composition and functions of the solar system.

Have you given the sun, moon, and other heavenly bodies in the sky close attention? There is proof that since prehistoric times, man has been curious to learn about them. Since scientists have created sophisticated tools to study the sky, man can now delve beyond what is visible to the unaided eye.

Eight planets have been found, along with asteroids, which are shaped like fragments of planets, dwarf planets, and naturally occurring satellites that orbit the sun. When all of these elements are combined, we refer to it as a system. We refer to this as the solar system. It is thought that gases and dust particles came together to build the solar system 4600 million years ago.

There are many stars visible in the night sky when we look up with the unaided eye. Celestial bodies that emit heat and light are called stars. They are hence energy sources. In the night sky, they are visible, sparkling or twinkling.

Nevertheless, since they reflect sunlight, other celestial entities like planets, asteroids, and natural satellites can be seen in the night sky even though they do not produce light. "Monotonous light that does not twinkle" is how they are perceived.

(Observe the starry, unclouded night sky and verify the information above.)

- Solar system composition -

The solar system is made up of the sun and the other celestial bodies that are drawn to it by its gravitational pull.
The following is a list of solar system heavenly bodies.

• The solar system's central body, the sun

• The largest heavenly bodies are the planets.

• Dwarf worlds, or smaller planets

• Planets' naturally occurring satellites

• Millions of the debris or rock fragments
