What is the Snowball appearance in Animal Farm? Sketch the Character of Snowball

Snowball is one of the major characters in George Orwell's novel, ' Animal farm '. He rubs shoulders with Napolean and Squealer. He seems to be the counterpart of Trotsky who was driven away from Russia by Stalin. However, he is symbolic of a political and public leader.

Snowball is the disciple of old Major. After old Major's death, he elaborates his teachings and formulates his thoughts into a system that is known as ' Animalism. He holds meetings on the farm and teaches the principles of Animalism. During the revolution, he plays a prominent part. After the revolution he is overjoyed. He makes a concrete contribution to the establishment of the seven commandments. He propagates the philosophy of labor and asks the workers to work hard. He ever remembers the Preachings of old Major who laid great emphasis on political awareness among animals. Snowball is a deserving leader. He has all the essential characteristics of an ideal leader. Snowball is well up in organizing a revolutionary state. He changes the name of the farm from Manor farm to Animal farm bound to the cardinal principle of animalism. For rapid development in the state and much else, he constitutes different committees. with the different animals on them.

He seldom thinks of himself. So he has no ambition like Napolean to overpower the public. All the animals are highly impressed with him.

Unlike Napoleon, Snowball is a great warrior. He never escapes any battle. He studies Julius Caesar's tactics. In the Battle of the cowshed, his role is very remarkable. He attacks Jones. He wins the battle and drives away Jones and his men. He is very bold regarding the laws of battle. Due to his gallantry, he is awarded the military honor Animal Hero First class.

Like Napoleon Snowball has the power of a leader. He is very quick in his speech. He is able to produce proper arguments. Basically, his arguments bank upon the philosophy of old Major. When Mollie asks for sugar and ribbons after the revolution, they tell her that sugar is human luxury and ribbons stands for slavery.

But unfortunately, he is the victim of Napoleon's conspiracy. Snowball has so much clout on the farm that Napoleon has to spend a lot of time neutralizing it.

Snowball has a very impressive personality. He disappears in the 5th chapter of the novel, but he is discussed up to the last. He possesses all those qualities that belong to an ideal leader. He proves to be a great warrior.

If he had been on the farm at the time of the attack of Frederic the windmill would have escaped destruction.
