What is Polytechnic

Polytechnic is not a specific course; it’s an Institute where different technical courses are taught.

Courses:-

Different courses are available in a Polytechnic Institute.

Some of the courses are given below:-

  • Diploma in Engineering (D.Engg.)
  • Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharma)

Many more courses are also available but given courses are famous and most demanded.

1)Diploma in Engg.

There are different trades available in Diploma Engg. Course.

The main three courses or mother trades of D.Engg. are:-

  • Diploma in Civil Engg.
  • Diploma in Mechanical Engg.
  • Diploma in Electrical Engg.

Many sub-trades are also available. Some of the famous and demanded sub-trades are:-

  • Diploma in Computer Science Engg.
  • Diploma in Survey Engg.
  • Diploma in Food Processing and Technology.
  • Diploma in Leather Technology.
  • Diploma in Automobile Engg.
  • Diploma in Architect Engg.
  • Diploma in Electronics and Tele-communication etc.

Eligibility:-

Generally, 10th Standard passed students are eligible for Diploma in Engg. Courses.

Admission Procedure:-

Candidates must qualify an Entrance Exam for Admission to Polytechnic Institute. Better known as JEXPO in West Bengal.

Course Duration:-

Diploma Engg. is a Course of 3 years.

Job Opportunities:-

Govt. and Private both Jobs are available after completing the Diploma course in any Polytechnic Institute.

Ex:- Loco Pilot (railways), Junior Engineer, N.S, Field Officers in Private Sector, etc.

How to apply:-

Students should fill up a form for Admission to Polytechnic. Then an Entrance exam is held.

Then based on performance in the entrance exam, a Rank card is published. Then depending on the ranks, Students can get a Chance in Polytechnics.

2)Diploma in Pharmacy

A diploma in pharmacy is a course where students learn about medicines. Students get a license after completing this course. With that license, they can start a business of medicines.

Eligibility:-

Generally, 12th Standard passed students are eligible for Diploma in Engg. Courses.

Admission Procedure:-

Candidates must qualify an Entrance Exam for Admission to Polytechnic Institute.

Course Duration:-

Diploma Engg. is a Course of 2 years.

Job Opportunities:-

Govt. and Private both Jobs are available after completing the Diploma course in any Polytechnic Institute.

Is it a good Course:-

It is a good course cause you can get job opportunities after this course and gain skills in any trade. If anyone doesn't want to do a job under a company or private sector, then he/she can start a business with their learned skills. Such as- Construction Farm, Medical Shop, Garage, Electronics device repairing shop.

Is it Equivalent to Graduation:-

No, it’s a Diploma course. It is not equivalent to Graduation. But you can get officer level posts after this course. And obviously, the competition is not so high as compared to general Higher secondary and Graduation.

Can anyone complete Graduation after Polytechnic:-

Yes, diploma passed candidates are eligible to take lateral entry to B.Tech or B.Pharma. And they also gain more experience.

Board or University?

Generally, Diploma courses are maintained by the board. In West Bengal, the Diploma Courses are maintained by the “West Bengal State Council of Technical and Vocational Education and Skill Development.”

And all Polytechnic Institutes in India are approved by “All India Council of Technical Education.”

Conclusion:-

It is a professional course, and there's an option available for higher education. So it is a good course, students should go for it.
