What is crude oil and so what are the pros and cons for us ?

crude oil

Crude oil is a non-renewable resource. It is used as the main source of fuels such as petrol and diesel. Crude oil is the main source from which raw materials for the production of monomers for polymers, medicine and basic organic compounds are obtained. As this is a non-renewable resource, continuation of the productions based on it becomes a problem with its consumption. Another crisis is the increase in global warming caused by the carbon dioxide produced during the burning of fuel obtained from crude oil.

01. Pros for crude oil.

      1. It is simple to store crude oil.

Once it has been taken out of the ground, oil can be kept in barrels or tanks. This enables us to                            maintain ready access to oil reserves. The oil can then be used as and when required.

The majority of renewable energy sources lack this privilege. We can only use the wind and the sun while            they are present; we cannot preserve them. Therefore, wind turbines can only produce electricity when                there is enough wind. Solar panels also only function in daylight. Batteries can be used to temporarily                  store renewable energy, but this is a pricey solution.

       2. Crude Oil Is Easy to Find

Despite being a limited resource, crude oil is nonetheless widely accessible. Along with coal and natural              gas, it ranks among the most popular energy sources. A global infrastructure is in place to support oil                  production, transportation, and refinement. Oil is a cheap way to help satisfy the world's energy needs                because it is so widely accessible.

       3. Oil Energy Is Reliable

Oil may be used as a consistent source of energy because we are able to store it. Large tanks or pipes                can be used to supply oil power plants. These can guarantee a steady flow of oil to keep the plant  Wind              running unhindered. Turbines and solar panels can only function when there is wind, as we briefly said                Earlier.

02. Cons for crude oil.

             1. Oil Leaks Might Occur

Oil drilling and shipping involve a lot of danger. It is possible for oil to leak while drilling. This may                         result in oil slicks from offshore rigs and land degradation near oil derricks.

Even greater risks are associated with oil transportation. Over 2 million barrels of oil may be,  Large                     oil slicks can develop when oil tankers are breached. These have the potential to seriously harm  any                   nearby coastal regions, wildlife, marine life.

              2. Oil Energy Produces Toxic Gases

toxic

Numerous gases are released as a result of the use of oil in energy generation. Carbon dioxide and                    carbon monoxide are examples of this. Some of these may be harmful to both the health of our                            planet and our health. In addition to producing greenhouse gases, oil energy also contributes to                            climate change. One of the main drawbacks of oil energy is this.

               3. Oil Isn't Renewable

Since crude oil is a nonrenewable resource, its supply will eventually diminish. It is made up of the                       skeletal remnants of ancient plants and animals. The duration of this process can reach tens of                           millions of years.

The inability to quickly refill crude oil supplies is a significant disadvantage. In this respect, fossil  by                     fuels are significantly outperformed renewable energy sources. They can be used repeatedly                               without running out.

                 4. Oil Exploration Is Protracted

It may take a while to find oil. Millions of dollars might be spent by exploration corporations looking                       for oil. However, if they do discover oil, they could earn greatly from it.

                  5. Oil Drilling Is Dangerous

Oil rig work is a hazardous occupation. In actuality, one of the riskiest occupations you can have                           is working in an oilfield. The process of extracting oil involves a wide range of risks.
