What does Vedas mean?

It is assumed the Vedic literature was composed and compiled from 1500 to 500BC.The Vedas were compiled before the spread of other religions, and Hinduism is based on the knowledge of Vedas and Upanishads. It is said the mantras written in the Vedas were visible to the saints - they could see the mantras. The saint Ved Vyasa knew at one time during kali yuga - humans will become very weak and remain unfortunate and unmotivated, so he divided the endless Vedic knowledge into four parts - Rigveda, Samaveda, Yajurveda, and Atharvaveda, persevered the knowledge for the future generation, at the same time, he invited scholars to contribute towards the growth and preservation of the books. Hinduism was not founded by any person and it does offer Dos or Don’t rules as it talks about cycles of karma and rebirth, which means, you are alone responsible for your fate. A follower of Vedic tradition and Hinduism is free to follow the rules mentioned in the Vedic books. The texts offer generalized guidelines for the economy, societies, medicine, entertainment, astrology, environment, science and mathematics. The Vedic scriptures contain many verses written by unknown scholars. The Rig Veda is a collection of more than one thousand hymns in Sanskrit. It, mainly, provides ways to practice yoga and spirituality. It explains the properties of the visible and invisible sources of energies. It contains knowledge related to cosmos, astronomy, mathematics, physics and chemistry. It contains mantras of blessings that were chanted by priests during religious ceremonies. Samveda provides the knowledge to relieve the soul from the cycles of birth and death. The text is devoted to the worship of God, praise, a manifestation of God’s powers and ways to attain spiritual elevation. It is one of the shortest of all Vedas and contains 1874 mantras. Yajur Veda is related to human psychology and activities. It provides methods to attain goals like Moksha. It also provides ways to implement the knowledge gained in other Vedic texts. Atharveda contains 5977 mantras about the social and physical sciences. It contains mantras related to engineering, military sciences, cosmic science, the universe, political science, medical sciences, astrology, and economics. There are multiple mantras written for every field of activity that can be found in a growing society. Vedas contains various divisions, subparts and multiple other books, which have been compiled by scholars of Vedas. The Vedic society was divided into four categories based on the profession/expertise – education, commerce, administration and labour. These books explain the code of conduct that can be followed to attain personal and spiritual goals without harnessing karmic debts. The code for each professional category was different that later developed into the caste system in Hindu societies. After the compilation of Vedic texts, the society and culture underwent multiple modifications but still, the mantras and hymns of the texts are recited during religious ceremonies in Indian Vedic societies.
