Benefits of Curd

Curd is filled with calcium, vitamin D, protein, and healthy gut bacteria. When consumed within the right way, curd offers many health benefits such as:

1. Improves digestion

A good quality curd is unctuous, an honest appetizer, and develops taste in food. The probiotics in curd help the right functioning of the gastrointestinal system. It improves the digestion and absorption of nutrients and is useful for lactose-intolerant persons.

Curd is found to be beneficial in constipation, H. pylori infection, and in inflammatory bowel disease.

2. Helps in controlling vital sign

A study suggested that adding more curd to the diet without increasing the number of calories may reduce the danger of hypertension. Curd contains some special proteins and nutrients like potassium and magnesium,m which help lower vital signs and promote a healthy heart.

3. Helps improve immunity

The gut-friendly bacteria present in curd fight disease-causing germs and keep the gut and intestinal tract protected. Various research studies have shown that intake of curd bacteria has led to a rise in immunity parameters (IgA) with faster recovery of diseases like diarrhea, dysentery.

Certain probiotic bacteria can protect against allergies by increasing the assembly of the mucosa immune defender, secretory immunoglobulin A.

4. Skin benefits

Being unctuous, curd features a moisturizing effect on the skin. It helps in marinating a cheerful and active gut which results in healthy skin.

Lactic acid present in curd acts as an exfoliator and clears off all dead cells and blemishes when applied externally. This makes curd a standard ingredient of face packs.

5. Strong bones

Curd contains an honest amount of calcium that helps in maintaining bone density.

To get maximum health benefits and avoid ill effects, Ayurveda has laid down few guidelines to consume curd.

1. firm Curd of uniform consistency, sweet aroma, and slightly acidic taste with a smooth and glossy surface that's free from cracks and bubbles should be consumed.

2. Consumption of incompletely coagulated curd is strictly prohibited because it aggravates all three doshas, causes a burning sensation during digestion, increases feces and urine excretion.

3. Curd should be eaten with honey, rock sugar, amla powder, ghee, or mung soup.

4. Curd shouldn't be taken continuously for an extended time and in excess. it's going to cause diseases like

Diabetes, Skin disorders, asthma, etc.

5. don't consume curd with certain food items like milk, radish, sour fruits, melon as they're incompatible foods, difficult to digest together, and should produce allergies.

The benefit is depending on the freshness of the curd and the type of bacterial used. If it has added probiotics ( bacteria which survive in the guts), then it is supercharged food ( means it an excellent ), these live bacteria and added probiotics give the body a better chance to fight other bad bacteria, and this gives the body a better chance of survival and over well being.

In my view, the curd is one of the best foods, provided it is home-made, fresh, and has no added sugar in it, also it be great to add probiotics in it.
