What a Folk painting 🎨 Let's Know about this tradition

The folk painting of Madhya Pradesh has been divided into Malwa painting, Nimar painting, Baghelkhand painting and Bundelkhand painting.

 

Malwa painting-

Savanahi- This painting is made from cow dung on the occasion of Hartalika festival in the month of Shravan. This painting is made keeping in mind the belief of both magic and sorcery to protect against it.

Sanja- In the Malwa region, girls make different traditional shapes by decorating the wall with cow dung, flower petals or bright leaves for sixteen days during Shraddha Paksha.

Mandana- Mandana in the form of land ornamentation is a completely independent and complete art form. It is made on the occasion of Diwali and the festival of Bhai Dooj.

Divasa- This is a wall painting art prevalent in Malwa region, which is painted by teenage girls during Shraddha Paksha.

Chitravana- Chitravana is engraved on the walls of houses and temples by the Chitre caste. Especially in this, depictions of marriage ceremonies are depicted.

Nimar painting-

Nimar painting is an aesthetic expression of imagination, which is traditionally prevalent in folk and tribal areas. In this, simple types of pictures are carved on the ground, walls and utensils by the common people.

Pagalya Painting- Under this, the auspicious message on the birth of the first child is drawn in the construction.

Filling Kanchali- On the occasion of marriage in Nimar, Kanchali is filled on the heads of the bride and groom.

Thapa Painting-Thapa is the painting art of Nimar. In this, hand claps are made on the occasion of Shaili Saptami or Dussehra. These thapes are made of turmeric, ochre, cow dung etc.

Sanja Phuli- Its picture is made by unmarried girls in the month of Ashwin throughout Madhya Pradesh.

Irat-Nimar, at the time of marriage, a mural picture of the Kuldevi is made and she is worshipped.

  Mordhan- This picture is celebrated on the occasion of Diwali.

Jiroti- This picture is made on the occasion of Hariyali Amavasya.
