top Xbox Game Pass Early January 2024 Games Announced

Assassin's Creed In the enduring and well-liked franchise, Valhalla, set in 2020, players assume control of Eivor, a Viking raider who uses both sneaking and stealth in addition to yelling and smashing. In keeping with the role-playing gameplay of Assassin's Creed Origins and Odyssey, Valhalla's primary area is England, although it also allows players to go to other locations, such as Norway and North America.

"Assassin's Creed Valhalla is a massive, beautiful open world fuelled by brutal living and the dirty work of conquerors," IGN remarked in our review, giving it an 8 out of 10. It's impressive on many levels, but a lot buggier than it should be.

The other big release of early January is Resident Evil 2, a 2019 game that faithfully adapts the cult classic survival horror title for a contemporary setting. Players assume the roles of Claire Redfield, who sets out to find her brother who has vanished, or Leon S. Kennedy, who begins his first day on the job as a police officer in Raccoon City during a zombie apocalypse. Both protagonists are forced to conquer terrifying obstacles one after another in these interwoven narratives.

This is how you remake a classic, according to IGN, which gave our review a 9/10. The terrifying atmosphere and intense moments of anxiety that made the first Resident Evil so beloved are brilliantly brought back in Resident Evil 2.Maintaining the eerie vibe, We Happy Few is another horror game that will be available on Xbox Game Pass in January. It follows a bunch of slightly evil individuals as they attempt to break free from a regimented happy life, forcing their way past some terrifying locals in the process. "There's a great story lurking in We Happy Few, but you'll have to escape some repetitive levels to find it," IGN wrote in our 7/10 review.
