Top things you should know about the Chartered Accountancy Course

Chartered Accountancy course is one of the most reputed courses in the world. It helps you in learning various aspects of Accountancy, Auditing, Laws, Taxation, and even Information Technology. The syllabus is very dynamic and provides you with rich and practical knowledge.

 

There are three routes to join this course:

1) The Foundation Course route

2) The Direct Entry route

3) The other courses route

 

 

Let's take up each of the routes one by one.

THE FOUNDATION COURSE ROUTE:

The step-by-step procedure of the Foundation course is described below-

 

 

Foundation level:-

1) You are eligible to enrol for the foundation course after Class 10th.

2) Register yourself on or before the 1st of January to appear in the May/June cycle or the 1st of July to appear in the November/December cycle.

3) Successfully appear for the 10th board exams or the equivalent.

4) Appear for the foundation exam and clear it.

 

 

Intermediate level:-

1) You are eligible to enrol for the Intermediate course only after clearing the foundation exams and the Class 12th exams.

2) In order to appear for the Intermediate exams, there should be a gap of around 8 months. You are eligible to appear in the exams on completion of 8 months of study as on the first day of the month in which the examination is going to be held.

3) Undergo 4 weeks of ICITSS training. It is to be noted that this training is mandatory and is to be completed before undergoing articleship training.

4) Join articleship after passing either of the groups or both groups. You have to ensure that you have successfully completed your ICITSS training.

5) If any group is pending to be cleared, clear it.

6) Once you clear both the groups, you can register for the final course.

 

 

Final level:-

1) You are eligible to enrol for the Final course on successfully clearing the Intermediate exams, undergoing all the training as required under the curriculum, and various tests conducted by the Institute.

2) After registering for the course, you have to undergo 4 weeks of AICITSS training during the last two years of practical training but before appearing for the final examination.

3) You can appear for the final exams after completing the training or during the last 6 months on or before the month preceding in which the examination is going to be held.

4) After appearing for the final exams, you have to complete the balance training, if any.

5) Once you clear the exams, you can enrol yourself with the Institute as a member and become eligible to use the words 'Chartered Accountant'.

 

 

THE DIRECT ENTRY ROUTE:

The direct entry route is also similar to the foundation route but there are a few modifications which are described below:

Under this route, Commerce Graduates/Post-graduates with 55% marks or Other Graduates/Post-graduates with 60% marks can enrol themselves for the intermediate level directly.

1) Enrol for the Intermediate level.

2) Undergo 4 weeks of ICITSS training.

3) Register for practical training of 3 years.

4) Appear in the Intermediate exams on completion of 9 months of training as on the first day of the month in which examination is going to be held.

5) Appear for the exams and clear both the groups.

6) Further steps are the same as in the Foundation route.

 

 

THE OTHER COURSE ROUTE:

This route is applicable for those students who have successfully cleared their Intermediate level of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India or the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of India.

1) Enrol for the Intermediate level.

2) Undergo 4 weeks of ICITSS training.

3) Appear in the Intermediate exams on completion of 8 months of training as on the first day of the month in which examination is going to be held.

4) Register for practical training of 3 years after clearing either of the groups or both the groups of Intermediate level.

5) Clear balance group, if any.

6) Further steps are the same as in the Foundation route.
