Making gulab jamun with milk powder because it's readily available at any grocery store. This recipe is for those who do not have access to khoya and do not prefer making it for hours at home. This Gulab jamun recipe using milk powder is suitable even for beginners to try. I have shown this method in the recipe step by step. You can follow, and let's start with ingredients:

Ingredients forGulab jamun:-

For sugar syrup: 2 cup water, 1.5 cup sugar, four cardamoms seeds, 1/2 cup saffron as per your choice.

For Gulab jamun balls: 1/2 cup milk, 1.5 cup milk powder, 1/4 cup ghee, 1/4 tsp soda, 1/4 cup maida(flour).

Step 1: Take 1/2 cup milk, 1.5 cup milk powder, 1/4 cup ghee, and mix it well.

Step 2: On the other side, making sugar syrup add 1.5 cups sugar and lightly crushed four green cardamoms to a pot. Add 2 cups water will be darker.

Step 3: Boil this until the syrup turns slightly sticky. To check this, cool little syrup on a small plate. Dip your forefinger in it and touch it with your thumb. You should feel it is slightly sticky. It should not reach one string consistency. Add saffron at last as per your choice.

If you do not make syrup correctly, then your jams will turn up soft, so make it sticky, and the fragrance adds some rose water.

Step 4:

Make the dough at the medium flame.

Put the mixture in a pot.

  • Cook for 10 minutes and make it soft dough, then let it be warm.

Step 5:  Put this warm dough in another bowl and mix 1/4 cup maida and 1/4 spoon soda. Please do not add more soda unless your balls can break, and mix them well like a uniform. Add 1 tsp of ghee. Make sure that the dough is softer to avoid cracking balls while deep frying.

Step 6: Divide the dough into 10-14 parts. Do it round and round on your palm. Gently make smooth and small balls. Be gentle in handling the dough, and do not press the balls.

Step 7: Pour ghee or oil into a hat pan, make it medium hot, then add balls in it, fry them for 1-2 minutes until it becomes golden brown and make sure that you don't cook on high flame; otherwise, it will burn. When you are trying them, they will increase their sizes, giving them enough space in the pan. Dry them out nicely and let them be cool for 4-5 minutes.

Step 8: Check your syrup. It should be medium if not make it hot. Add the Gulab jamun balls into the medium-hot sugar and let them immerse into the syrup. After that, balls will increase automatically when they soak them. Hot and tasty sweet is ready. Serve them in the next 30 minutes.
