Who are giant pandas?

Giant pandas are black and white Chinese bears.

Female pandas are known as sows, males are known as boars, and baby pandas are known as cubs.

The Panda is considered a symbol of peace in China.

 

And this isn't the only fact you will love about it, but the Panda is also used as a symbol of the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), which saves endangered species and animals.

 

Fun fact:- There are eight different types of bears on our beautiful Earth but from them, Giant Panda is the only one to be herbivores despite having a digestive system of carnivores.

Only 1,864 pandas remain in the wild.

Well! All pandas legally and officially belong to China and also are native to China.

 

If some zoo from anywhere in the world has pandas there, it means they have taken Panda as a loan from China at a high price.
(almost one million USD / year).

The maximum time you can take Panda as a loan is ten years.

Even if a panda is born on the soil of Africa, Australia and other countries; then also they belong to China.

But as if we know, there are always exceptions to anything that breaks the rules.

Xin Xin and Shuan Shuan are the only giant pandas globally that do not belong to China.

A full-grown male panda can be about 6 feet tall and weigh up to 115 kilograms. 

Females are much smaller than male pandas, and they can weigh up to 80 - 90 kilograms.

While many people think pandas are cuddly and sweet, but sometimes they can be as dangerous as any other bear.

I am saying this because the Panda is a bear and they are designed to be aggressive.

 

How do pandas move? 

They are considered to be good climbers and swimmers. 

Sometimes they take an afternoon nap high up in the braid. They cling to the bark of trees with their short claws.

And they have an average speed of 15.5 meters an hour.

In simple words, Panda always eats, eats, and eats...

In the wild, pandas eat only bamboo. They have to eat a lot of food to stay healthy. 

They eat 10-20 kilograms of bamboo every day! 

There are very few bamboo forests left today, so many wild pandas are short of food.

In zoos and other centers where they are taken care of, pandas eat bamboo, rice cereal, carrots, apples, and sweet potatoes.

What sounds do pandas make? 

Pandas generally keep silent. They bleat when they communicate in a friendly way—Pandas bark to scare away the enemy.

When they are in pain, they squeal, which means making a long high pitched sound.

 

Who are the Panda's enemies?

A giant panda has very few natural enemies.

One of them is a snow leopard. It can catch baby pandas that have moved away from their mother. 

Sometimes hungry eagles can even kidnap panda cubs left in the trees.

 

Why are giant pandas endangered?

People hunt pandas for their fur and also cut down the bamboo forests they live in. 

So pandas have no place to live and therefore they wander into nearby villages in search of food.

 

From which family do they belong?

Are panda babies blind?
