5. Our ingredients are not our own?  Among the most important ingredients of Indian food are potato, tomato, chili, and sugar. Potato is a partner of almost every vegetable and without the tempering of tomatoes, there is no enjoyment of any lentils or vegetables.  And spicy food is the life of us Indians. But you would hardly know that all these things are not found in India from the beginning. They were brought here by the Portuguese with them in the 16th century. Before sugar came here, fruit juices and honey were used for sweetness.

4. Less consumption of Non-veg Food, more Non-vegetarians  Now, this is a strange thing, but the fact is a fact.  Many types of non-vegetarians are there in our country. Some say we only eat outside, not at home; Some who become vegetarian on Tuesday and Thursday and the rest of the week non-vegetarian; And others say that I am an  'Eggetarian', that is, I only eat eggs, not meat. Only about 29% of the population of this country is pure vegetarian.  But despite this, India is the second-lowest meat consuming nation in the world.  Yes, people who eat non-veg may be more, but those people eat very less.

3. Categories of food  Now you must be thinking, why to talk about the food categories, everyone knows that the food is either veg or non-veg.  No, sir, this is India, where everything is different. There are 3 categories of food in the Indian food system: Saatvik, Raajsik, and Taamsik.  An initiative of satvik food means vegetables, juices, and such lightly cooked food, that keeps our body refreshed and positive. Oily and spicy food comes in Rajasic food, which gives us both energy and taste. And tamasic food i.e. non-veg and alcohol is quite over-processed and also difficult to digest. Apart from this, there are 6 different types of tastes in Indian cuisine: sweet (madhura),  salty (Havana), sour (amala), pungent (katu), bitter (tikta) and astringent (kasya).

2. Oh my God, So Spicy, If Indian food is not hot and spicy than the taste will not come. But if there is too much Bhut Jolokia in the food, then smoke will come out of your ear.  One of the hottest chilies of the world is found in India, Bhut Jolokia or Naga Jolokia.  It is grown in the northeastern states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Nagaland, and Manipur and is 400 times hotter than the hot Tabasco sauce.  The Guinness World Record was also recorded in the name of this chili, being the hottest chilli of the world in 2007. This record remained until 2010, although now it is on no. 7. Wearing gloves while working with this chilli is compulsory or else your skin will burn. We have even heard that if a large quantity of this chili is eaten together, the death of a person can also happen.

1. Land of Spices  India is called the ‘Land of Spices’. This is because the variety of species of spices that are grown here is not available in the whole world.  With this, India is the largest producer of spices in the world.  Around 70% of the spices are grown in India, across the world.  And as much as the production is there, there is also consumption. Our Indian garam masala is made by grinding nutmeg, cumin, black pepper, cloves, cardamom, mace, and many different spices together. Apart from this, many spices like turmeric, red chillies, coriander, amchur are used in our Indian food.  Then the food cooked becomes Indian.  So these were some shocking fun facts about our Indian food.
