Grief has the power to fundamentally and irretrievably change a person. Profound grief can change a person's psychology and personality forever. The initial changes that occur immediately after suffering a significant loss may go unnoticed for several weeks or months after the death of a loved one or other traumatic experience.

In the short term, grief can have an impact on you and change who you are. Significant losses cause emotional and physical discomfort that you may not be accustomed to or ready to handle.

Unresolved grief has been consistently linked to physical reactions such as immune system disorders, heart problems, and hypertension. Your immune system and genetic makeup change over time if you are in constant distress.
