Top 10 rules of Kabbadi

Rule 1:
The first rule of Kabaddi is that the game is played by two teams of seven players each. Only seven players from each squad are permitted on the field at any time. This means that in order to play Kabaddi, a minimum of 14 players are required.

Rule 2:
Each Kabaddi match is divided into two halves, each lasting 20 minutes. There is a five-minute break between the two halves. The side with the most points in total across both half is named the winner.

Rule 3:
The goal of Kabaddi is to score points by raiding the opponent's side. A raid occurs when a player from one team penetrates the opposing team's half of the field and seeks to touch as many players as possible. The raider must then return to their own half of the field without being detected by the enemy.

Rule 4:
A successful raid is one in which the raider touches at least one opposing player before returning to their own half of the field without being caught. A successful raid earns two points for the raiding squad.

Rule 5:
If the enemy catches a player during a raid, they are eliminated and must leave the field of play. The player may only return to the game if their team scores a point while they are out.

Rule 6:
If a player fails to touch any of the opposing players during a raid, they are eliminated. As with the previous regulation, the player may only return to the game if their team earns a point while they are out.

Rule 7:
A player is not permitted to cross the center line that separates the two sides of the field. If a player crosses the center line, they are out.

Rule 8:
A player is not permitted to hold their breath while on the pitch. If a player holds their breath, they are out.

Rule 9:
A player may not leave the field of play for any reason. If a player leaves the field, they are out.

Rule 10:
The first team to reach seven points is considered the winner. If both teams are tied on six points, the match is a draw. Once a team has won, the losing team has one more chance to score points and tie the game. If they are unsuccessful, the contest ends and the winning team is declared the winner.
