The five prides of the mesozoic era who listed themselves at the top by their adaptations and hunting.

1. SABRETOOTH...

Sabretooth (Smilodon fatalities) was the first cat that was found by the archaeologists around two million years ago.

His range was up to North and South America.

During the La Brea tar pits, scientists discovered a million bones in which Smildon's bones were one of them and were found similar to the modern cats.

He looks similar to modern cats if his teeth are taken out of consideration.

His food sources were rhinos, large mammals like elephants, and other colossal herbivores. His long developed sharp teeth were a great advantage for him and a deadly cage for his prey.

During hunting, he creates a downward thrust of head powered by the neck muscles that gives him a tremendous bite force.

  2. TITANOBOA...

Titanoboa a 40 feet long anaconda.

The archaeologists first found its fossils in La Guajira, Colombia, in 2009.

The fossils found that a Titanoboa was twice more generous than the longest snake today alive and four times heavy.

The reasons for his large body could be increased in temperature and instant increase in the amount of oxygen in the environment.

Initially, gigantophis was considered to be the most giant snake but after finding Titanoboa's fossils in 2009 this position was granted to this snake.

The crocs of that time were its favorite prey after eating which the snake would not have to hunt for the whole year.

  3. SARCOSUCHUS...

Sarcosuchus was the biggest croc ever with a length of 12m and a weight of 17500 pounds.

112 million years ago it's range was  Africa and South America.

He was so huge that he came out of the river to eat dinosaurs like Spinosaurus and t-rex.

Its fossils were first discovered by a French paleontologist and were named in 1996.

He contained 130 bone-crushing teeth to tear its prey in multiple crumbles.

  4. T-REX...

Tyrannosaurus Rex was a theropod dinosaur (dinos who walked upon two legs) and the word tyrannosaurus means the king of tyrant lizards.

Tyrannosaurus ruled throughout what is now Western North America. He was also considered as the king of dinosaurs.

The first skeleton of a T-rex was found in the Montana portion of the creek formation in 1902.

Nicknamed Scotty was the first Tyrannosaurus whose skeleton was found to be the biggest one.

The favorite prey of a T-rex was Triceratops and the hunting weapon of the predator was his heavy skull containing a 1.2m long jaw which gave him a strong bone-crushing bite force.

He could have eaten smaller dinosaurs with a single bite.

  5. SPINOSAURUS...

Spinosaurus was a genus of theropod dinosaur meaning spine lizard. He walked throughout what is now North America and was even bigger than a T-rex.

He got his name due to his sail back feature and was named by a German paleontologist in 1915 on the basis of the discovery of its a partial skeleton.

Spinosaurus was a great hunter and was known especially for his water hunting skills. His conical teeth were advantageous for him to catch slippery fishes instantly.

Some studies predict that his sail back was an adaptation for him to store water and lipids.

6. VELOCI RAPTOR...

Velociraptor was a genus of dromaeosaurid dinosaur who were present on the earth about 71 million years ago. The name velociraptor means swift seizer and his adaptive skills prove that.

His 64km/h speed helps him to catch his prey and also to prevent from the predators.

Velociraptor used his sickle-shaped claws to kill his prey.

The fossils of Velociraptor were first found in the Mongolian Gobi desert in 1922.

Velociraptors usually hunted on Protoceratops and Shuvuuia. These groups of dinosaurs were also considered as the ancestors of birds.
